It's probably a deleted scene. I saw this in theatres and on video shortly after and there were no differences I can recall, althought the jump cut is now obvious to more experienced eyes.

I suspect the scene was removed for a lower rating. It's quite graphic in the book.

It's quite easy to have memories trick us by imagining we saw scenes that in reality we only saw in print adaptations or publicity stills
