Pros: storyline, acting, visuals
Cons: some of the acting was over the top
Cons: some of the acting was over the top
Though it has American backing and the screenplay was written by the Wachowski brothers, leave it the the Brits to do a movie like this. I never read the graphic novel but this is a gripping, nail-biter of a movie with one amazing scene after another. Heavy on the social commentary I have a fondness of dystopian movies and this one is close to the top of the list. My opinion of Natalie Portman's performances has always been hit or miss but here she gives a riveting performance and Hugo Weaving as V is nothing short of mesmerizing. This is a wonderful movie about a corrupt and totalitarian government, loss of self, internal struggles and eventual freedom. Outstanding movie.
