Pros: Brilliant film-making, stunning transfer, outstanding film
Cons: None of note, though more substantial special features would have been welcome

The Coen Brother's True Grit is a masterful piece of film-making, filled with incredible performances, a script that positively comes alive, and a style and tone faithful to the Coen brothers trademark voice. Perhaps the most remarkable feat is that of a film superior to the film from which it is a remake. With 10 well-earned Academy Award nominations (though winner of none), True Grit is a mesmerizing film and proof positive that the great American Western can still produce some of the finest films in American cinema. Its remarkable box office performance, grossing over $140MM at the domestic box office alone, brings hope that more rich and rewarding tales from this genre will find their way to multiplexes soon.
