Toshiba HD A-30 HD DVD Reviews

The HD-A30 was my first and still used regularly HD-DVD player.  With firmware 4.0, it plays everything thrown at it, except the occasional disc that needs cleaning.  It's only drawback is it inability to decode DTS lossless audio.  It is also an excellent upconverting DVD player.

Even though the HD DVD format went the way of the dodo, I remain very happy with this machine.  It features an exceptional video scaler and remains my go-to player for forum reviews of SD DVDs.  I have it feeding my Panasonic 720p projector, and it upscales 480i/p and downscales 1080p through HDMI better than my Panasonic Blu-ray player.

The best HD DVD player made before the end of the format war. I love it! I have over 100 titles on HD DVD. Some are only now available on Blu-ray. The picture quality is superb.
