Pros: Very funny, very dark comedy; good picture and sound, some new-to-disc extras
Cons: Not available in all stores yet
Cons: Not available in all stores yet
When Larry (Billy Crystal), a writer frustrated that his ex-wife (Kate Mulgrew) stole his book and called it her own, he inadvertently gives Owen (Danny DeVito), one of his students, the idea that he should murder Larry's girlfriend and that Larry should return the favor to his overbearing mother (Anne Ramsey). A well-paced, well-crafted, and very funny dark comedy in which the two stars play off each other exceptionally well, while Anne Ramsey is perfectly cast as the titular Momma. It fares reasonably well in terms of presentation and supplemental material in its Blu-Ray debut, which is, unfortunately, only available at Wal-Mart at this time.
