Pros: superb video transfer; more than adequate audio; excellent bonus features
Cons: nothing to speak of

Saying Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing is a heist picture is like saying Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull is a boxing movie. Certainly they’re that, but they are both so much more. With his third feature, Kubrick announced to the world that an international cinema artist had arrived (though it took Paths of Glory the next year for some people to become believers). With its noir atmosphere, an unconventional narrative structure, and a clutch of truly talented character actors in tow, The Killing remains one of the great caper movies, and it’s one that continues to surprise and delight more than half a century after its first appearance.
