Pros: Color, Black Level
Cons: weight

This set makes everything look good when we first saw it we compared it to plasma sets and the colors and black levels blew them away. I've seen many LCD and Plasma's today that do not have as good a picture after 5 years. I love the black laqueer finish it blends into the dark when the lights are out. The set is heavy but I have it mounted in a custom set of cabinets at the perfect level for viewing. We purchased the t.v. on close out for $2700 original price was $6,500.

Pros: High quality, excellent picture, pinnacle of technology for rear projection.
Cons: Usual issues with rear projection, size, weight, and dimming over time.
This is the last year that Pioneer Elite made rear projection TV's.  As such it is the pinnacle of this old technology.  The picture is great, excellent color, very dark blacks, action scenes play beautifully.  This unit is a 53" set, the larger models used the same guns, just enlarged the screen size.  This set probably has a slightly better picture as a result of its smaller size.  It has the features one would expect from a quality set like this.  However, it is rear projection so the guns will dim over time and at $800.00 per gun it is unreasonable to fix it.  It is huge and weighs 368 pounds.  The finish is a beautiful black lacquer and furniture grade.
