We have enjoyed this set for 10 months.  Initial setup was time-consuming, but the set has been trouble free since that time.  All kinds of DVD and broadcast material have looked great.  Despite being a plasma we do not think that it runs particularly hot, and we have it on a power strip so it gets no power except when it is in use.
We will buy another Panasonic for our next TV.

Overall the picture quality, including color accuracy under THX , price at the time I bought it all has proved out to be a great purchase.  My only complaints  has to do with the set-up usability which I believe could be more user friendly and actually have more picture customization options.   It really becomes a kludge in entering channel identifications after channel programming.  However those are minor complaints.  After the initial setup and last 1 year plus of use I could not be happier.

Oh, one more thing.  I would have like to go with 50" but this makes size makes for more peaceful domestic dynamics.
