I have been using Windows 7 media center as a TV solution.  I have 4 FIOS cable card tuners hooked up and Windows extenders (XBOX and Linksys) at every TV location.  It is a whole house DVR.  It works great and I love being able to wtch both live TV and especially any recorded show at any TV.  With the 1.5TB drive I have room for not only several hundred episodes of the shows my kids watch, but lots of HD too.
