Pros: HDMI switching, clean looks, 2 hdmi out
Cons: 3 HDMI in, remote
Cons: 3 HDMI in, remote
I have only had this receiver for one week, and I am no audiophile so take my review with a grain of salt.
The receiver sounds great. I have had no HDMI sync issues with the receiver, PS3, DishNet VIP622 and Vizio 32" plasma(Sorry I can't remember the model#). This was a concern for me as a main reason for my upgrading was for the HDMI switching, and the up converting. Speaking of the up converting, this receiver does a good job of that on my Wii and Xbox 360 both of which are running component to the receiver and HDMI to the TV. The only issue I had was during setup when I realized I had my xbox set to output 1080p over the component which the receiver would not accept. Once I set the xbox to 1080i everything worked great.
The on screen display and setup work well and the Audyssey setup nailed my speaker distances, although I did have to go back and adjust the levels some to my liking. The display over HDMI (I can't speak for other outputs as I haven't used them) does not overlay the video so you loose your picture if you need to go into the menu to make any adjustments, which is a minor annoyance, but makes the display easy to read so I guess it is for the best, although it would be nice for on screen volume adjustments.
The remote is way too packed with buttons for my taste, but that is typical of every receiver I have ever seen. My biggest complaint with the remote is that to switch inputs, you have to double tab the button, which made it a little interesting when trying to set up my universal remote. I simply had to add a second press of the input button to every macro.
Overall, this is an excellent receiver in my opinion and I think that anyone short of an hardcore audiophile would be extremely happy with one.
