Director Ronald F. Maxwell faithfully recounts the "biggest and bloodiest battle ever fought on American soil" with hardly a misstep in pacing or narrative. The Blu-ray released in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War is worthy of consideration for owners of the theatrical cut DVD release and those looking to add the title to their collections for the first time.
