Futurama has much in common with Family Guy. Both series premiered on the Fox Network and were frequently pre-empted and moved around on the schedule before cancellation, and subsequent revival. Futurama aired originally on Sunday evenings on Fox adjacent to the Simpsons and was often pre-empted by NFL Football. Following its cancellation by Fox, a series of 4 direct to DVD films kept interest alive in the series until new episodes were commissioned by Comedy Central. Futurama Volume 6 is essentially

the second half of the 6^th season overall of Futurama to air on Comedy Central.
