I needed this receiver to drive my larger speakers and to get the lossless audio formats that my new blu-ray player was outputting. So far, so good, drives my 7.1 system just fine. I don't like the remote but I don't care since I use a Harmony 880 to support it. This is a bit of an older receiver (would love to have gotten one with Dolby Volume) but I think it's a great purchase.
