I've been using my BenQ W2000 for just about 8 months now, have put on about 1800 hours, and I am as pleased with it as the day I first put it up on its mount. This is my fourth projector and I am using it with a 92" Vutec Silver Star screen.
I was concerned that I may not see an improvement upgrading to a 1080p projector from 720p since I am using a smaller sized screen (for front projection), but I have to say that the resolution increase has been a very nice step up. I sit about 12 feet from the screen and don't see even a hint of screen door, like I did with the Samsung 710AE I used previously. While watching HD DVDs and blu-rays that I had previoulsy seen on the 710, I am seeing a lot more detail that I didn't know I was missing. Not seeing screen door has given these movies a much better film-like appearance as well.
The picture qualilty is superb to my eyes, it is very sharp, nice and bright, and the black levels provided by the Darkchip 3 DLP chip are definitely acceptable to me (which I cannot say about my previous 3 projectors.) The black levels may not be CRT or JVC RS2 black, but the bright picture and high contrast totally makes up for it. The automatic iris works very well too, it is only noticeable if you really know to look for it on a fade to black screen. The combination of a nice contrast, dark blacks, 1080p resolution, and very nice colors makes the picture almost 3D like. I am very pleased.
This is the quietest projector I have owned so far, I can only hear it if I'm watching a dialogue only scene, although barely.
Mounting the projector wasn't too difficult, but it would be nice if it had horizontal lens shift, but it's not like DLPs are known for that, and it just adds a little more time to the initial set-up. However, it does have motorized vertical lens shift so once the projector's lens is square and centered with your screen, adjusting the height is easily set with the touch of a button on the remote.
I use my projector as my main video device so I use it for watching movies, playing Xbox 360 and PS3 games, and regular television show watching. I find the overall performance of this projector to be of a very high quality and it has cured my upgraditis, for at least a few years anyway. I have been to many home theater meets and have yet to see to see a projector that I'd rather have short of a $45,000 Sim2.
