All in the Family - The Complete Ninth Season Reviews
Featured Review
Cons: No real extras
One of TV's most controversial and beloved sitcoms, All in the Family has stifled itself in its final season. No longer the strident, envelope-pushing show that took America by storm, this season finds Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor) and his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton) raising their niece Stephanie (Danielle Brisebois), while Archie divides his time between his home life and his responsibilities to the bar he co-owns with Harry Snowden (Jason Wingreen). Essentially the bridge between the original series and the sequel series Archie Bunker's Place, this isn't the best season, but the acting remains top-notch, and there are still some laughs and some dramatically resonant moments. Nine years and two distributors later, completists can finally rejoice in having the entire run of this classic sitcom on DVD.
