Pros: The small premium to pay for the locking feature is well worth it

HTFs Best product of CEDIA 2009

: I don’t usually get excited about cables, especially HDMI cables. Since they are used for digital signals, you usually won’t see the difference between an inexpensive well built cable and a super expensive cable on most runs under 25 feet. An inexpensive but quality constructed cable will work just fine for most installations. Regardless of price, all HDMI cables have a tendency to come loose over time thanks to the heavy plastic ends and the type of socket they use. The fact that a lot of the HDMI jacks on TVs face the bottom only exacerbates the problem. It’s even worse for people like me who are always swapping components. The Accell locking HDMI cable changes all that. It has a T shaped locking connector that locks the cable into the socket on the back of your components. To easily release the cable just pull back on the sleeve and pull the cable out. The nice thing about the lock is it is rated to about 12 pounds of pulling force before it gives. This is just enough to stand up to gravity, cable weight and jostling, but will disconnect when given a good tug before it causes damage to your gear. I have had other “locking” jacks actually pull jacks out of  my gear requiring expensive repairs. Of all the new products we saw at CEDIA this year, this was our favorite.
