Keeping with John's theme of incorporating the moon into the landscape, here are a few I've taken in the past. I love when the moon is visible in a nice landscape.

This one is of our condo complex in Myrtle Beach. I had it enlarged and it's hanging over the sofa in our rental unit.

One more from Myrtle Beach

Finally, one from Yellowstone National Park a few weeks ago, shooting over Hayden Valley

Me likey... :D The Mackinac Island - you must have had a very long shutter speed, it almost looks like there is a fog above the sea... Great job... Is there even a chance to take this with a short shutter speed without having noise all over the photo?

_BTW, I noticed quite a few dust spots in the same photo-maybe you should clean the sensor and the mirror?

Al, thanks for the feedback. Maybe I should explain what I'm doing. I'm experimenting with what can be done with digital photography. After decades of photography, photography school (I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology School of Photographic Arts and Sciences in 1987) working for a camera manufacturer and as a Professional, I completely got away from photography a few years ago. A little less than two years ago I decided to see how far digital had gotten, because it was completely worthless when I was working professionally. I'm not interested in doing the exact same stuff I did for decades on film. So, I will often push the extremes just to see what it will do, explore these new tools and options and regain some of the enjoyment I'd lost. If you're expecting to see me post a single thing that could be done on film, you probably won't be finding it.

OK, thats cool... Nothing wrong with that... Im not expecting anything from anybody, Im just here to see (and share) great photos regardless of the personal style and intention etc. Most of all Im here to learn, I see I could learn a lot from you about photography...

This is definitely not my usual type of shot. I almost didn't take it because of the power lines, but now I think they actually add to it in a strange way. Comments??

My eye is drawn to the sky on that shot, John, so I think the power lines are fine. They add a little flow above the tree line.

Since I was attempting to create a fog like look to the water, a faster shutter speed wasn't a consideration. I did use neutral density and grad ND filters to slow the shutter speed and balance the exposure, so a faster shutter speed would certainly be possible without increasing the ISO beyond the sensor's capabilities.

Just blows my mind how easy it is to create panos these days, effortless to produce 'ok' results. Not gonna win any awards but plick off 5 shots in freezing cold weather and bring em home and boom make a nice wide shot. Would have been even sharper on a tripod of course but that's not my point...

Not sure that one came out ok? Take 3 or 4 more, easy peazy

Nice, Sam.

If you didn't see it yet, Nasim Mansurovs gives some very useful tips about panoramic pictures on his photographylife site. The article also refers to several earlier articles on that site.

He prefers using portrait position, to increase resolution (and you may need one or more additional takes then, of course).
Good article.

Thanks Cees. I did not mention it but the bottom pic of the first diptych is in fact a portrait oriented horizontal pano. It's my fave of the bunch I think.

Also wanted to add that Lightroom made it very easy to print these at 20x30 at Costco. Made a 2 up in a 2x3 frame in print module, selected these 5, 'print to file' and boom 3 separate jpgs for display and print.

Yes, that's the big advantage.
Of course one would be able to crop a wide angle picture into visually the same picture, but even if you were able to get the same angle, it would have only a fraction of the resolution of the stitched panorama.

I've used Photoshop.

I've played around with panoramas several times. I don't have time to read the article linked above right now, but once I do I'll throw in any experiences and suggestions I have.

Exclusively using Lightroom. It is brain-dead easy to make stitches in 30 seconds or less. Once the stitch is done you can modify all the other stuff in Develop module just like any other pic and it pulls the details from the original RAW files.

Again, all are done hand held with hips-as-a-swivel instead of a tripod. Stand still, camera to eye, turn whole top half of your body and click x5 times without moving your feet.
