Speaking of subwoofers, I stacked the Hsu VTF-3 Mark V on top of the Rythmik FVX-15 tonight, and will be running them as twins, in the single port mode.

Lifting the Hsu up with one good arm and one still in a brace from where I damaged the tendon was a challenge, but not too bad. The right arm did the lifting, the left steadying it.

NOW ... to find a fun bass fest movie. Where is that copy of Open Range ... ???

Hi Craig! It's great to see you're still around reviewing subs. I stepped away from the HT game for a few years, but am starting to make more time for it again.

Back in '02 or '03 I had an SVS 20-39 cylinder sub which I thought was ok for my room, but didn't have enough volume. You had just reviewed the PB12+/2 (or whatever the name was (they changed it)) and I was one of two lucky guys to get one from you for a nice price. The other guy coincidentally was also from the Cleveland area, like myself, and we've actually become friends because of the chance Craig sub encounter. Not sure you recall any of that since you've gone through so many products, but I'm still grateful. I love this sub and it's still going strong.

Anyway, I've read through this whole thread so far and it's a very fun read. I'm trying to talk my dad into buying a subwoofer, but his limit is $500 so these subs won't work for him unfortunately. His mains are older than me (42) and can't handle today's movie soundtracks. Oh, but that's a different thread.... I just wanted to say hi, thanks, and great thread. I'll keep watching.

George - I do remember you. If memory serves, it was a PB-2 Plus. That review thread was 12 years ago. Time flies !

As you are local, I am sure we can find a good subwoofer here for your dad in his price range. Let me know if you want to talk on the phone sometime.

Craig, time flies too fast!

I'd like to talk about subs, but I can't figure out how to PM you with this new format to give you my number.

Actually, I think I figured it out and sent you a message, or started a conversation. Now if I could get Photo Bucket to work correctly....

George: Go up to the little inbox icon, next to your User ID in the upper right hand corner of any HTF page. At the bottom of the dropdown menu, you'll see a "Start a New Conversation" link. Click on it and type Craig's UserID in the appropriate field (you'll see his name narrow down from a global member list as you start to type it in--helping make sure you get the right guy).

You should be all set.

Actually, I just found an easier way! Click Craig's UserID and a popup box appears which has a link to "Start a New Conversation." That way, his UserID is auto-filled into the message.

Yep, I sent you a message this way. I like the upgrade, just have to figure out some of the extras.

First off let me say thank you for putting this all together, it really is great stuff but you guys are killing me with this thread.... My old HTIB sub finally gave up the ghost this weekend and that started the proverbial snowball rolling down the hill. At first I thought of replacing it with something more budget friendly but I started to think about the future and my desire to improve my current setup. I came across this thread as a number of subs I was considering were covered and now my head is spinning with ideas. From my own research one sub stood out as a possible candidate for this comparison and I was curious what the group's thoughts on it were.

The Echo 15:

It comes in a hair under the 1000 dollar threshold but seems to have a pretty impressive spec sheet coupled with a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. Do you know if this will be auditioned in the future or has anyone had any experience with it?

Thanks in advance.

I have been trying to get a subwoofer from Jeremy for almost a year now. He keeps threatening we will see one here, but nothing yet. :D

Reaction Audio is still working out a lot of supply issues, hopefully they will catch up soon.

Good morning, guys. Due to some pretty serious personal issues, I will be unable to spend time on the forums for the foreseeable future. My arm is fine, and the issues are not anything to do with me. They are with two family members who are having some tough times. Both are my sons, the issues are health related. Between balancing their needs, running my businesses and normal life, time just isn't going to be there.

It's difficult to come up with words to convey the severity of the issues without getting too personal, so all I can do is say this has been more fun for me than I have had in this hobby for years, and thanks to everyone for participating.

Dave Upton - Thank you for allowing the space on Home Theater Forum. You are a gracious host.

Craig,

Thank you for the time you and your work on this thread. Obviously family is more important than anything so you take care of what you need to. This forum isn't going anywhere.

I also sent you a text wishing you and your sons well, but in the slim chance you don't have texting, I wanted to wish you well here too.

Good luck!
