Hello.
I have recently fallen upon a Mitsu XS206U projector. Fantastic lumens, contrast, bulb life. I bought it used with 600 hours on it. I have an Insignia 5.1 receiver with HDMI (i worked at best buy in college, don't knock my cheap receiver. it was HUGE to have HDMI that didn't just switch back then) that i am actually a fan of.
So, my plan was to run a PS4, FireStick and an Antenna with a converter box with HDMI to my receiver. This allows me to play games, stream, and have locals through the receiver, run an HDMI out and convert it over to VGA for the projector, since resolution isn't my issue.
I can get some converters to actually "function" be it I get a picture. But the picture seems be yellow. as in a yellow filter. Running just a VGA does not cause this, as well as the menus were fine and not yellow, so the projector being the issue is out.
1.) Clearly passive HDMI to VGA does not work.
2.) Inexpensive "powered" units don't seem to work either. Powered being it has a mini USB cable that plugs into it.
Is it possible to get an HDMI uncompressed to VGA with appropriate colors? Clearly I am doing a mancave on a budget, so buying a new projector is out. Worst case I ditch the streaming stick and run component, and convert that to VGA since it is RGB.
Any insight? I am new to this thread. I worked at Best Buy in college and I am on the brink of being an AV nerd, which I am glad to be a part of. Thanks ahead of time for all of your help!
