The Student Prince 1954 - Did they do wardrobe tests for Mario Lanza? (1 Viewer)

I know that they only used Mario Lanza's recordings of songs in the movie. I'm wondering if they did wardrobe tests for him before he was replaced by Edmond Purdom. See the record sleeve below. I have the DVD but, a restored Blu-ray would be better.

What kind of record is that? It looks like a 45 but says it's extended play. It's been a while since I owned a 45 so maybe I've forgotten. :)

"Extended play" discs ran at 45 rpm but usually had two tracks on each side. In the early 1960s, they were popular.

It wasn't a weight problem. Check out the reasons here of why he did not appear in the film.

...I still would have loved Jane Powell in the film. She was a match with Edmond Purdom (sp) in Athena
and would have also been a match in "The Student Prince."
