Great news! I know it's likely to be an extended cameo, a long the lines of Sookie videochatting with Lorelei from her restaurant in Paris (or whatever scenario they came up with to explain her absence), but it plays better coming from Sookie herself than having the main character's best friend suddenly become an unseen character.

I'm glad ASP and Melissa McCarthy could sort out whatever their issues are and make it work for the fans.

All this news...and on the same day!

Lauren Graham looks great on that EW cover. I hope my copy is in the mailbox tomorrow!

THIS LINK tells us Mae Whitman will also show up in the shows...and episode 3 features a musical (featuring Sutton Foster, natch)!

And HERE there's more word on the musical.

Nice EW Cover. I am looking forward to this but I don't subscribe to NETFLIX.
Hopefully it will come out on BLU. But DAREDEVIL has not arrive on Home Video, so I doubt GG will be
released.

It all depends on the deal Warner Bros. made with Netflix. Sony's deal for "House of Cards" usually has it out on DVD/Blu-Ray 4-5 months after its Netflix premiere. And Warner, like Sony, is far more aggressive with its TV on Blu-Ray releases than Disney is.

On the one hand, I'd be really surprised if this doesn't hit Blu.

OTOH, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this never makes it Blu.

Good thing I've only got two hands...

My Entertainment Weekly issue was waiting in my mailbox for me when I got home.

  • The first and last episodes ("Winter" and "Fall") were written and directed by showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino while the middle two ("Spring" and "Summer") were written and directed by her husband Dan Palladino
  • ASP still hasn't seen the much maligned Season 7, but she didn't want to trivialize the investment of time that fans who stuck out to the end made. She had that entire season outlined for her so that she'd know what transpired, and she's made sure that nothing in the new stories will contradict anything televised.
  • At the start of the new episodes, Luke and Lorelei are still not married.
  • Rory got an article published in the New Yorker but her journalism career has since foundered.
  • Emily is already widowed at the start of the new episodes, and a massive painting of Edward Herrmann as Richard now hangs in the Gilmore living room.
  • ASP's long planned final four words will indeed close out the last of the four stories. They're an exchange between Lorelei and Rory, and will introduce a degree of ambiguity. ASP does confirm that, "I ended it the way I was going to end the series."
  • They have until mid-May to finish shooting, since they'll lose the soundstages to Pretty Little Liars at that point.

If they're done shooting in May, I'd think they'd be able to get them on by the late summer or fall. Of course, I'm sure Netflix's scheduling depends greatly on when their other shows would be going on so that may push it back.

My guess is November-December. Two things to keep in mind: Jessica Jones is rumored to come back in Nov., and ASP said she wants to avoid the Netflix model of all episodes being available at once.

I wouldn't mind if they release them one a week for four weeks, since it would actually spur good conversation here and elsewhere. But I certainly hope they don't release them one a season!

The four, 90-minute movies, are bringing your favorite Stars Hollow residents back together - Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy) and many more - picking up life nine years after the original Gilmore Girls signed off the air. Amy Sherman-Palladino is the creator and executive producer. Daniel Palladino is also an executive producer. They are both writing and directing the series. Gilmore Girls (WT) on Netflix is produced by Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
