I couldn't even find a mention of gorilla glass on apples site, but a google does confirm they use it. Apparently apple was thinking of using sapphire glass but decided against it. Apparently sapphire is much harder and more scratch resistant.
Yes they keep a massive stock of replacements exactly as you describe. BE POLITE AND FRIENDLY & don't push for anything and you will get a full replacement a good percentage of the time, and this percentage goes up if the manager looks and sees a consistent purchase history with Apple. They do their best to keep people happy. Under promise and over deliver.
Thanks for the suggestion, but being the klutz I am, impact protection is a number one priority for me. As I mention above I ordered the Griffin Survivor. I should get it on Tuesday.Johnny - After I upgraded to an iPhone 6s this past summer I opted for the Spigen Neo Hybrid case which really slims my phone down so I can carry it in my jeans pocket now. It doesn't have much drop or impact protection and the screen is completely unprotected but I love it and can't see going back to a bulky Otterbox case.
Well, it's the best apple store I've been in. It's the only apple store I've been in.Johnny - It sucks that you're having so much trouble with your iPhone. As a rule the refurb iPhones are as good as new ones. Please keep us informed as your adventure continues.
As an aside, I'm guessing you went to the store on Chenal. I've never been there. How is it?
Verizon just replaced my 6+ due to very similar behavior. The phone wasn't exhibiting any symptoms when I took it in but they didn't question it. I got the impression that they've seen this problem before. This morning my 6+ started giving me trouble. The screen became randomly unresponsive to touch. I'd power off and on and that would fix it, but it would start again. The problem became more frequent. Phone was nearly unusable. Then I saw a light band at the top of the screen and photographed it with my wife's phone.
According to the apple csr, this is a known, recurring problem that occurs in a particular batch of phones. He was surprised I was unlucky enough for me to get two phones out of the bad batch.Verizon just replaced my 6+ due to very similar behavior.
