People ask about this film from time to time on their Facebook page and they acknowledge that it needs to be re-mastered but this will eventually come out.

They had it streaming on Warner Instant about a year ago. As I recall it looked rather good.

Never noticed it on there but it was just on TCM about 6 months ago and it was non-anamorphic and pretty poor looking. Faded color, etc.

That's probably the print the are re-mastering. Last time I saw this film asked about on FB was about 5-6 months ago and their answer was it still needed re-mastering. So maybe it was a work in progress.

At long last: Take The High Ground and My Foolish Heart.

Admirers of John Alton should note that he was cinematographer on Take The High Ground . . . and just look how he photographed Elaine Stewart!

My Foolish Heart is not highly regarded today although the title song has become a major "standard," recorded by such diverse singers as Vic Damone and Carol Sloane. The film takes place when becoming pregnant without being married was a disaster for a woman. Young people may find that premise hard to believe, but I've always enjoyed this movie.

"SAYONARA" (1957):

No BD has yet been released

10 Oscar NOMINATIONS:

Best Picture; Director (Joshua Logan); Actor (Marlon Brando); Writing (Paul Osborn) ; Best Cinematography (Ellsworth Fredricks); Best Film Editing (Arthur P. Schmidt, Philip W. Anderson).

4 Oscar WINS:

Best Supporting Actor (Red Buttons); Best Supporting Actress (Miyoshi Umeki); Best Art and Set Decoration (Ted Haworth and Robert Priestley); Best Sound (GEORGE GROVES).

"THE NUN'S STORY" (1959):

No BD has yet been released

8 Oscar NOMINATIONS:

Best Picture; Director (Fred Zinnemann); Actress (Audrey Hepburn); Writing (Robert Anderson); Cinematography (Franz Planer); Music (Franz Waxman); Film Editing (Walter Thompson); Best Sound (GEORGE GROVES).

"THE MUSIC MAN" (1962):

The prior BD was pleasing enough...but the technology for greater sound and picture has now become so well advanced that's it's clearly time for an upgrade from WAC.

6 Oscar NOMINATIONS:

Best Picture; Editing; Art Direction (Color); Costume Design (Color); Best Sound (GEORGE GROVES).

1 Oscar WIN:

Best Music Scoring & Adaptation (Ray Heindorf).

NOTE: The sound on all three aforementioned films were designed by GEORGE GROVES who won 2 Academy Awards for "My Fair Lady" and "Sayonara". Mr. Groves also received nominations in BEST SOUND for "The Nun's Story", "Sunrise at Campobello", "The Music Man", "The Great Race" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?".

Here's the titles included -

This sharpshooting nine-pack includes the contemporary crime/western Lawless Valley with Kay Sutton, the Chill Wills co-starring Arizona Legion, Trouble in Sundown, Racketeers of the Range, and Timber Stampede, The Fighting Gringo with George O'Brien romancing the lovely Lupita Tovar, finishing up with Bullet Code, Prairie Law, Stage to Chino, a trio of films co-starring the vivacious Virginia Vale.

Just received the Oldies.com February 2016 catalog, with a big cover headline: WARNER ARCHIVE WINTER SALE ... Save Up to 47% Off. So I checked all the titles on my L-O-N-G Wish List from last year. Every single title was 17.98. It would appear that WBAC
has no interest whatsoever in moving a lot of their titles any more. Ah well, at least my wallet is happy ...

Since these discs are MOD, I suppose there isn't the same incentive in moving stock.

A website VideoETA has several Warner Archive items for March including three Marion Davies titles (Floradora Girl, Peg O'My Heart and Not So Dumb) and three Eleanor Parker titles (Lizzie, Woman in White and Seventh Sin) plus something titled RKO Varieties Triple Play.
