Considering that Lionsgate and Shout! are producing UHD BDs when they lock their Blu-rays, I would say this is a non-issue right now. The UHD format is going to be very niche for the rest of 2016, so I imagine deals can be re-negotiated for these upgrades without too much trouble.

As UHD is an extension of the Blu-ray standard I would expect regional rights to apply in the same way.
The question is imo how this will be enforced not if and I am sure we will find out sooner rather than later.

My Samsung Deck is installed, I've got my streaming apps for Amazon, Netflix, Mgo all set up. Apparently there is an issue with Vudu or I'd link up the account we've been shoving our free Ultraviolet codes on for giggles... Still no disks or 4k TV but should have a few UHDs by the end of the weekend. BenQ finally announced a 4k PJ that might not require me to sell plasma to afford and rumors are that the Sony 75" FALD might not be as expensive as everyone fears, we'll see.

Got my Samsung UHD player today. So far streamed some 4K M-Go content looks good (screen captures included). Watch a DVD, Bluray and 3D Bluray no issues. Split HDMI works fine. Wireless streaming seamed a tad problematic for 4K but hardwire worked fine. Just waiting until 3/1 to get some UHD disks.

Well, these are my early opinions on this deck, bottom line is if you arent jonesing to be first waiting will pay off BIG TIME.
-The Samsung App store is total shitburgers to navigate
-The Remote is one of the worst I have used for entering in text, there is a curved depression for your thumb to settle in, which means it often clicks OK instead of the direction you want it to go in
-I have no idea if it is possible to put the app icons I might actually fing use on the main screen instead of the apps that are currently there
-Ads on a $400 deck? FU SAMSUNG. I would return it if there was anything else on the market just for that. Gotta live with it for now.

I hate the remote too. Glad to see the Amazon and YouTube apps, so I can stream some content in 4K (especially youtube, I had trouble finding content on Amazon in 4k). I'll be using my Oppo 95 for regular Blu-rays. I like seeing a lot more display info such as bitrate, AV info, etc. Easy to access subs which can be moved into the black bar area, etc.

Yeah this will be for the UHD BDs and 4k streaming. I do like being able to add a keyboard and web browse, I'll check that out. Also would like to add external storage and see if we can download Vidity files someday. Hopefully the VUDU app will be up and running, but for me 95% of the use will be UHD BD playback, and that's just to bide my time until they release an Oppo (although seriously it depends on the number of movies I have, it may not be worth it to buy it right away and I may wait longer).

All in all, impressed in some ways, not so in others. Didn't see any ads yet. Haven't compared upscaling yet. Really need some UHD discs to make an assessment. That's what we bought it for anyway.

I heard Best Buy will have the Fox titles in store for purchase sometime between now and Tuesday next week. If you ordered from Fox directly I heard some got their movies yesterday or today.

I have to wait till I get paid on 2/19 and I will be going to Best Buy in Cerritos, CA and purchasing the Samsung UBD-K8500. If I have enough money left over I might buy a movie or two while I am there, that is if the Best Buy has any UHD movies in stock. I will be buying a number of Fox titles on UHD and can not wait to start building my UHD library to get ready for a future UHD 4K projector.

My player arrived from Bestbuy.com yesterday, too, to complement my LG 65UF8500 I upgraded to just before Christmas when my 2-year old Samsung bit the dust and was deemed unrepairable by Geek Squad. No discs yet, but that's being worked on. Netflix, Amazon, and some YouTube 4k content looked amazing. This player also has a very good upscaler, as Blu-ray's also looked amazing (more so than when I allowed the TV to do the upscaling from my 1080p BD players).

VUDU is aware of the issue, apparently Samsung didn't let them know the players were going to ship early, so the device ID was never loaded into their system. According to the customer service rep I spoke with, as soon as they get the service running on this device, it WILL support 4K titles.

I'm finding M-Go to be another CinemaNow, with limited UV titles and support techs who know very little ("How are you able to play movies when I can't find that you purchased any content from us?").

I agree, that remote is a joke, way too small, particularly the navigation buttons when trying to type in user id's and passwords. I used the Samsung model BD-J5900 when programming my Logitech Harmony Touch, and everything seems to be working OK so far, much better than the Samsung remote.

I will likely post a formal review here on the forum after receiving some UHD discs.

Good luck, Dave, as the player is sold out online and my store has yet to receive any. In fact, we have been unable to order it for anyone, showing as unavailable in our ordering system and does not exist in inventory tracking.

I guess I will find out when I call Best Buy on 2/17 and if I need to I will see if they will hold it for me if they have limited stock. Will just see what happens.

I was able to get a few UHD titles at the San Francisco Best Buy (Kingsmen and Wild). Sampled about 10 minutes of UHD Kingsmen. A few observations:

1) no internet required to play the disc (I disconnected the ethernet before loading).

2) disc loaded in 20 seconds

3) UHD movie looked significantly sharper than the included BD playing on my Oppo (I don't have HDR on my Sony65X900A). Don't know if it's because I'm looking at higher native resolution or not, but it easily looks better. According to IMDb, although the DI is only 2K, the source format is 2.8K. I'd be very surprised if I wasn't looking at 2.8K resolution. It was plain that their was more information to look at on the UHD. Colors look the same (at least, as far as I could tell), which is good, because I was worried about the effect of the HDR-->SDR conversion. But then I only look at about 10 minutes of each. There could be a difference that I haven't noticed yet.

4) No extras on the UHD. They are on the BD.

5) Going to disc menu during the movie takes you out of the movie, but it will resume after you go back to the movie

6) Resume feature does work after turning off the player.

I'll check it out more later, but so far the PQ looks very good!

I wish I had bought another movie besides Wild though. I forget that I have that one pre-ordered through Fox Connect. I may leave it unopened and swap it for another at BB on Sunday. But then, I may not... :)

I haven't read up too much on UHD bluray to know this, is this going to be the norm for these? If so, that sure is a step back. One of the great things when HD DVD and bluray came out was the pop up menus.

My mistake. I pressed the "disc menu" button instead of the "title menu/pop-up" button. It works like it should.

Watching some more of the movie, it looks even more impressive than it did earlier, compared to the BD. I moved my recliner up to where I'm only about 5' away from my 65" TV, where the difference is even more apparent. It looks lovely. :)
