And I just checked...

The season 8 Blu-ray is back up and available on Amazon. But the price has been put back at the $29.99 MSRP. :(

I'm sure it will drop again somewhat before March 22. I am currently locked in at $26.99.

And can someone please clear up my confusion about the three movies? Did they all originally air after the conclusion of season 9?

They all aired after the conclusion of season 9 and are set after season 9 in the timeline.

Season 9 concluded with "Hello and Goodbye" which aired on March 21, 1983.

The three movies aired as follows:

"Look Back to Yesterday" - December 12, 1983
"The Last Farewell" - February 6, 1984
"Bless All the Dear Children" - December 17, 1984

"The Last Farewell" was filmed last, meant to be shown last, and last in the timeline, but for some reason NBC decided not to air "Bless All the Dear Children" until almost a year later.

So of course Lionsgate decided to add to the confusion by including "Look Back to Yesterday" and "The Last Farewell" with season 8, and "Bless All the Dear Children" with season 9. In the timeline the correct order is as follows:

Season 9
"Look Back to Yesterday"
"Bless All the Dear Children"
"The Last Farewell"

For a first time viewer, watching any of the movies before season 9 would throw things off, but I don't think reversing the first two movies would throw anything off as long as "The Last Farewell" is watched last.

Thanks, Toby! Much appreciated.

I just won't let my wife know I've got any of the films until after we've made it through the season 9 Blu-rays. Then we'll watch 'em in the planned order.

What she doesn't know won't hurt her! :D

Post removed.

Advocacy of breaking copyright provisions is not tolerated.

From the HTF Rulebook:
All I did was say there are programs out there which doesn't really take much brain power to work out anyway. I didn't post any links or info of where to find it but you carry on quoting the rulebook in your rose tinted world where everyone ignores the obvious.
And to convert to mobile formats means the person would need to buy the discs in the first place anyway so whats the big deal?

House's rules. We politely ask that you respect them.

Observing rules is one thing - and directions or links to allow for copyright infringing operations being not allowed is completely understandable but surely just making the observation that programs exist to do what he wants isn't the same.

At any rate, the dvd's come with UV codes still so why not buy those, use the UV codes, then sell the dvd's and buy the Blurays - all sorted?

The UV codes that come with the DVD's are SD only, but that shouldn't matter too much for someone who only wants them for use on a mobile device. If people were worried about UV codes, an easier solution would have been to jump on the $20 Vudu deal for the complete series when they had a chance.

I hesitate to continue this for fear of derailing the thread. But as quoted above, the rules are clear. And the rules are the rules.

While I don't need to explain this--in fact one of our other rules is that members are not supposed to publicly challenge moderators' decisions--I will just add that there have been a number of instances recently across the forum lately in which there have been conversations alluding to alternate ways of skirting the intended use of film and TV product. Your suggestion above about the DVD/UV/Blu gambit is perfectly fine...but advocacy of software to defeat the intention of the products will not be allowed.

If you want to continue this discussion, please contact me via PM. If not, we can just move on.

Thanks, Ethan!

Here's a link to TVShowsonDVD.com.

With a release date of April 19, I guess we'll see season nine Blus sometime in May??

Glad to see that season 9 is coming to DVD and I'm glad things are looking good for getting the entire show on Blu. I haven't picked up seasons 7 and 8 yet because I'm saving money for something.

Edited to add I just saw this:

Thanks, Ron! Ordered.

Awesome that the Blu release date of season 9 coincides with the DVD release. Let's just hope it stays that way, but I'm not so confident.

OMG that series was awful. Sugary, saccharine sweet along with terrible acting. Have many female friends who loved it, must be a chick thing, but myself and many guy friends thought it was horrible.

I was already watching the MTM show, MASH and other more mature shows. Even at the age of 11, I was already a critic.

Subject dropped, geez. I always thought this was a place to express our opinions, good or bad. .

Expressing opinions about the show would have been fine. I'm was never a fan either and I agree with the sugary/saccharine though I do get a bit of a kick out of seeing those terms in the same sentence. I do however know many people including my wife and several Guys (yes straight as an arrow before that insinuation gets thrown around) who loved it even when they were of the wrong age to be able to admit it back then. I know many fathers who watched it with their children originally and in re-runs who found that it was a very enjoyable show

Terrible acting -- I disagree.

The chick thing and guy thing seems to unnecessary since it's a taste thing and was at least an insult that any guy who enjoyed it must be a bit of a sissy (or worse)
The "other more mature shows" "at the age of 11" comment appears to be an unnecessary insult toward people who might enjoy the show -- it was at least a veiled comment
about the people who like a certain type show that maybe they aren't as sophisticated and prefer less intellectually challenging material.

OTOH a family TV show willing to take on issue of child abuse, death, the blindness of a child/major character, etc was somewhat groundbreaking in the era.

I was going to stay out of this thread David. But wow, you've taken it to a totally different level. Just made a tiny little comment about a show I didn't care for. Obviously you enjoyed the show and feel terribly insulted by my comment.

Nothing veiled, not trying to stir things up or piss people off. Relax.

I'm going to have the last word on this.

From here on we move forward talking about the show itself.

Stan: Even i had a visceral reaction to your post. As you yourself noted, you have been a member here for a very long time (longer than me). So you've seen countless times when members go into threads about specific films or TV shows and let it be known that they didn't care for it. They didn't explain why or engage in any substantial critical discourse--just a quick slam and out the door. In interwebz lingo that is usually referred to as trolling.

So I'm not sure what else you'd expect when you come into a 40-page thread (this'll be post #795) and trash a show that is the subject of much passion amongst the people who are posting here. And you then tell those members who are challenging you to "relax?"

Not cool. And part of my surprise was that I don't know you in your regular postings to be insensitive to internet culture in that way--or neglectful that you wouldn't expect some kind of pushback. If you want to continue this dialogue, please contact me via PM.

Let's just let everyone move on and go back about their business.

The fortunate thing here is that it looks like fans of the show are going to get to complete its run in HD (and in a rather timely fashion).

Figured it would happen, but am still happy to see the rest of the series get released on Blu. Of course, I'll believe it when we start getting the actual product in hand:)

Now if we can just get confirmation if the season 8 Blu Rays will include the same two movies as the DVD release. Otherwise, Only one of the three made-for-TV movies will be released (with the season 9 Blu Ray).

As the season 9 Blu cover shown on Amazon indicates the same movie will be included as on the dvd's it seems logical to assume the other 2 movies will be included in the season 8 blu just as they are on the dvd's

I'm old enough to know that one should not make assumptions. The phrase of the day is to clarify and then verify. Unfortunately in the world of home video release, even that isn't good enough. The only thing that matters is shipping product.
