I too loved last night's episode. Quirky and funny... enjoyed watching the story evolve.

One of the best parts, of course, had to be Guy's recounting of Scully's visit. Yowza! She's still got it.
Agree, Scully has such a great "rack".

Another enjoyable episode. I always have to laugh at ones like this because I remember my dad commenting that they sure are lousy FBI agents because they never catch anyone. I think Duchovny said the same thing on Jimmy Kimmel.
That reminds me of when Mulder and Scully were on The Simpsons and Scully says "Well, gee, Mulder, there's also this report of a shipment of drugs and illegal weapons coming into New Jersey tonight." and Mulder responds "I hardly think the FBI is concerned with matters like that."

It was a good episode, but it left a lot unresolved. The best X-Files episodes always had a scientific explanation to offset the paranormal event, and you could believe either way you wanted. Somewhere in the middle of the series the scientific explanations stopped.

I liked the stuff with Scully, and they do seem to be setting up something with regard to their son. Unlike so much in the X-Files, I hope it is given a pay off. It's also possible that Scully sees the resolution of the underlying mystery of the X-Files to be the key to regaining William. If that's resolved, then they need not fear for William's safety and she can be a mother, or at least be in his life. Maybe that is Scully's motivation for going through the X-Files again, while Mulder's is still the search for his sister.

Excellent episode, although sad to see Scully go through so much emotionally. Monster was a bit meh imo, but I liked the premise of it. Great idea but not done to the best degree possible. The other storyline was the ep's strong point to me.

The best part for me was the look on Mulder's face when the Sheriff/cop said “didn’t you used to handle the spooky cases?” Hysterical.

So was the Cigarette Smoking Man and he's back

Yeah, I complained about that after the first episode. I'm an X-Files fan who grew up loving the mythology episodes and generally being underwhelmed/annoyed/irritated by the monster of the week episodes. So when I heard that the show was coming back and the first episode was a mythology episode, I thought that might be my favorite episode - instead I hated it. I hated how that episode tried (poorly, in my view) to rewrite, revise, confuse, ignore and negate all of the mythology that we'd been given over nine seasons and two movies. And then seeing the Cigarette Smoking Man at the end of the episode was the final straw - he wasn't kinda maybe dead in the series, he was definitely dead. It felt like he was brought back because he was a popular character and not because the story in any way justified it. (I'm trying to withhold judgment until the season finale since maybe it does make sense in the end.)

I've enjoyed the monsters of the week episodes in this season so much more than I ever have before. I think a big part of that is how they're not completely divorced from the mythology and the characters lives' the way that they almost always were in the original series. Only the "Were-Monster" episode doesn't really connect to anything. Episodes 2 and 4 weren't about alien mythology, but they were at least in part about Mulder and Scully and their shared past, which has become part of the show's mythology. That's all I was ever really asking of the show - don't do a phenomenal mythology episode with major consequences for the characters and storyline, and then spend the next two months of episodes not acknowledging any of it. This season has been fantastic because it hasn't done that.

I always preferred the Monster of the week episodes. The Mythology ones were good at first but then they stopped making sense, like they were making it up as they went along. I would rather they had left him dead but what's done is done. I'm mixed on the new season, the first 2 episodes were kind of weak, I agree with you about episode 1, but the next two were really good. I would like them to have done more than 6, I don't think that's enough to get into a good rhythm but I'm glad it's back.

I finally caught up with the last two episodes. I liked them better than the first two as the two leads are finally hitting their stride again.

I liked Monday's ep. Had me cracking up the entire time. Bizarro Mulder and Scully were great.

I enjoyed it, and the lighter touch amid a serious case was nice. But the reason the X-Files of old didn't have so many light episodes is because it dampened the tension - which I suspect we will see more of next week. Overall, I have been very pleased with these six new episodes.

I loved the final conversation between Mulder and Scully

I do feel the Lone Gunmen were wasted. While it was a valid way to bring them back, to not use them at all (other than a few shaky-cam like shots) was annoying.

I found the episode too talky. I did like the younger versions of Mulder and Scully (wonder if they are priming them to take over the next mini-season with Anderson and Duchovny making only occasional appearances). Otherwise, an OK outing.

I am a little confused about Einstein's pills.
did she really give Mulder placebos or did she just say that to save her ass in front of Skinner?
