Loved it. The best so far and rightly being called a classic imo. :)

". Was just too out there - with so many plot/story holes. It seemed to be written as a grade school project to come up with the next goosebumps episode - and failed.."

Will try to explain this a little bit more..(some spoilers to those who have not seen this yet)

Original Idea (something I would see in goosebumps):

Lets do a reverse werewolf story - where a man bites a "monster" - and turns the monster into a man at full moon.

But how are we going to deal with all of the plot holes - like:

Dealing with how the creature that just turned into a man would know:
  • How to speak English?
  • Why would they realize that they are naked and need to steal some clothes?
  • How to put on the clothes?
  • How money works?
  • How to check into a Motel
  • What a port-a-potty is for, how to open one, and what to do in there?
  • How/why would they adopt a dog?
  • How/why to get a job at a phone store?
  • What is a cell pone, how does it work?
  • Human dating habits - that Sculley it hot and the monster would want to lie about her coming on to him.
And other plot holes:
  • Where do we put the clothes when he transforms from monster to man back into the monster?
  • Seems to be controlled by full moon - but can transform at will back/forth at night when we need him too.
  • Come up with a story to kill monster by glass through the appendix (kind of funny) that our hero somehow knows - but how would the monster know about it?
And the response to all of this seems to have been:

Just go with it - put it in the script - and maybe they won't notice it doesn't make any since...

Yike, someone's trying to harsh our buzz. If we applied that much logic and scrutiny to our entertainment content... well, we'd be spending all our time applying logic and scrutiny to our entertainment content instead of going along for the ride. It's a series about a guy obsessed with paranormal activity. If you can't step out from behind the curtain on that one once in a while, stick to documentaries (that VICE episode on fighting ISIS was scarier than anything ever on this series).

Wow. Some people just didn't GET the episode I guess. It all made sense to me. When he turned into a human, he acted like a human would. And did all the stupid things humans do. Simple. Just like when a human turns into a monster he acts like a monster. As to the plot holes. Really? In this episode? Just go with it. Or not. ;)

I only saw the episode the one time, but I feel like they explained most, if not all, of those supposed plot holes. It's not that everything got a deep and profound answer, but I felt that everything was addressed enough for me to just be able to go with the story.

For instance, about knowing what clothing is and needing it - he comments about that when describing his first transformation, that he suddenly became aware of his nakedness and knew he needed clothes. Regarding the "seduction" of Scully, he says being a human male makes him want to lie about sex.

Whole thing made enough sense to me.

Well, sometimes I can just turn off the logic and just go with something stupid (like most summer block busters), and sometimes I just can't....

Will just have to agree to disagree about the last episode...

Darin Morgan is some kind of hero, it's a shame he hardly writes anything outside of Chris Carter shows (which aren't exactly plentiful these days.)

As far as "plot holes" in this episode go, well... I guess you either like the absurdist humor or you don't. It's not meant to make logical sense. The whole joke is that the way we act in our everyday lives is in itself nonsensical. All other creatures are content satisfying basic needs, so why have humans evolved to want to wear ties, have jobs, and lie about basic urges?

I thought Mulder and the monster's chat in the graveyard was one of the funniest sequences I've watched in ages.

I agree, the lizard character explained everything to the best of his ability and it fit the logic of the episode. it was a fun, absurdist, comedic episode.

Yeah it really wasn't much of a departure from earlier Morgan comedy episodes like Corrophages and especially the Jose Chung duology.

I just watched episode 2 of the reboot. Glad I didn't give up on this after the juvenile first episode. The second one was much better and I am looking forward to episode 3.

My complete boxed set of seasons 1-9 arrived today and I have sent for replacement on season 8. Also, there are two empty boxes in the boxed set. I assume these are for the two movies or, if I fit both movies into one case, perhaps I can make room for the reboot disc :)

There are two cardboard placeholders in the box, but only one of them is meant to be removed - the upcoming BD release of the new episodes is meant to go into that slot.

That said, it's surprising that they didn't include the movie or make a space for it. You could probably remove the empty cardboard holder that's glued to the side and jam the BD case for at least the first move in there or combine them in a case. I'll probably just settle for putting in the new season when it comes out but leaving the movies out. I'm weird like that. I've got the Bond 50 set that came with the empty space for "Skyfall" but when "Skyfall" came out on Blu, I couldn't bring myself to ditch its individual packaging to slip it in box set.

I will probably pull the other one out and make space for both the movies and season 10.

I got the Jurassic Park Set that had room for Lost World. It also has room for the 3D version, But I will probably put the next movie in the series in that slot instead.

The basement of the FBI building
Charles Scully? It took about two decades but they fixed a previous mistake of ignoring that character's existence!

Gillian Anderson brings it as always.

The opening of this episode with Gaeta's arms being torn off and the monster crawling into a trash truck is a classic XF teaser- creepy, bizarre and attention getting.

It's been a long time so I loved seeing another signature Glen Morgan use of a happy song against something horrible happening onscreen. The song 'Downtown' has now been on three of my all-time favorite shows- Seinfeld, Lost and The X-Files.

An entertaining monster-of-the-week episode, but it ended kind of abruptly.
Its pretty much a modern day version of the old Golem of Prague story. Basically the Golem (or bandaid man in this case) is still out there and will protect the Jews/Homeless when more servants of Rudolf II/real estate developers come in to attack their community.

Now that was more like it.

I'm still annoyed at last week's joke, but this was some nice, creepy X-Files.

That was another good episode. I loved all of the stuff with Scully and her mom dying and Scully thinking about the son she and Mulder gave up, very emotional stuff. The Monster of the week was good too. I liked Scully's line about how back in the day, she used to run up stairs in 3 inch heels.

For me this ep was eh. I did like seeing Tim Armstrong as the trashman. Rancid is one of my favorite bands.

Another enjoyable episode. I always have to laugh at ones like this because I remember my dad commenting that they sure are lousy FBI agents because they never catch anyone. I think Duchovny said the same thing on Jimmy Kimmel.

That didn't sound like the Petula Clark version of "Downtown," but I could be wrong. It was such an iconic song in the sixties.

Yeah, my take on this episode was also graffiti artist legend Banksy creates the Golem.

They also pulled the stoppers on Anderson for this one to emote away. This was her Emmy episode submission.

They are definitely setting up some kind of payoff or additional revelation for the child they gave up.
