Just wanted to introduce myself and maybe get some feedback on my new Home Theater. We had this home built a year ago and we had it done with doing this in mind. The house is 2,850 sq. ft, with 2100 on the 1st floor and 750 on the 2nd floor. We specifically requested only for a rest room to be built upstairs and finish it out as just one large room.
I started 3 weekends ago by building a couple walls. One to separate what would be the media room, from the office and rest room area, the second wall in the media room in such a way that the media room is a rectangular shape of 16' x 24'. This gives me a closet that is 4' deep and 14' long, plenty of room for the hardware and plenty of storage for any other media gear such as movies etc. I also ran all my own electric and installed 2 20amp breakers dedicated for this room. One for the media closet and the other to run the wall sconces, projector and LED lighting around the elevated seating platform and on top of the crown molding. I ran Sig In-Wall speaker cable to the rear wall, front wall and ceiling above seating area for the in-ceiling speakers.
Some of the things I am not certain on is where to place the projector on ceiling and the seating distance etc. All I know for sure is that I have a new leather couch with recliners and pull down console for the rear row and a matching reclining power love seat for the first row. Both pieces have the illuminated drink holders and were very comfortable when we tried them out.
As for audio/video gear, this is what I have so far:
Projector: Epson 5030UB
Receiver: Denon AVR-X3200W
Front tower speakers: Klipsch RP-280F
Center speaker: Klipsch RP-450C
In ceiling surround: CDT-3800C II
Rear: EMP Tek E55Wi in Burlwood (I may replace these with Klipsch later, but they are gorgeous speakers and sound great), I needed to save some money somewhere!
Power conditioner: Panamax MR5100 power conditioner and surge protector
Now, what I do not have:
Subwoofer: Should I just go with Klipsch to keep them all the same, excepting the rears for now?
Amp: Do I even need an AMP or will this Denon receiver be enough? I was looking at the Emotiva XPA-5, 5 channel
300 watts RMS @ 4 ohm (0.1% THD)
200 watts RMS @ 8 ohm (0.05% THD)
Anyone have any knowledge of the products I have now and what I can expect from it all once set up? I have not even unboxed anything as I am just now doing the tape and float and getting ready to texture and paint the walls.
BTW, I am painting the ceiling a matte chocolate, the walls an eggshell deep maroon and the carpet is going to be dark brown possibly but not set in stone.
