Go figure.

Just after Amazon lets us know via e-mail a day or so ago that they will indeed be making LHotP: S8 in Blu available on March 22, the product is now listed as "unavailable" with no release date (or price) on its product page.

OMG that series was awful. Sugary, saccharine sweet along with terrible acting. Have many female friends who loved it, must be a chick thing, but myself and many guy friends thought it was horrible.

I was already watching the MTM show, MASH and other more mature shows. Even at the age of 11, I was already a critic.

Just started the Season 5 BDs and the picture quality continues to be outstanding. I didn't much care for the Albert character when I was a kid, but he's grown on me now.

Subject dropped, geez. I always thought this was a place to express our opinions, good or bad.

Been a member since way back in the old days, 16-17 years now, so I know the rules.

I'm done with this thread, good-bye.

These days forums are filled with fanboys of any subject who will shout down anyone who posts negative things about a show - it's not just this thread.
Although I do find as a general rule it's quite pointless posting in threads where the subject is something you have no interest in whatsoever. Debating the good and bad of a show/ movie/ release is fun but just popping on to say you hate it seems a waste of time.

I agree. It seemed more like trolling then anything. I don't care for reality shows too much, but I'm not going to seek out all the reality show threads and post a bunch of negative stuff. I really can't think of any show I would want to go in and trash. I simply don't watch shows I don't like and usually don't have the urge to comment on them.

It's not even original to use words like sugary and saccharine too trash Little House. People have been doing it for years. As for it being a chick thing, I've known plenty of males who enjoy Little House and this thread and threads at other sites are full of males who enjoy Little House.

I normally don't feed trolls, so this is probably all I'm going to say about the subject.

I think sugary and saccharine is an accurate observation of the series for many of the episodes but I don't see that as a negative thing at all. It's an observation I think younger males may make negatively but once they've grown up and have their own families they are likely to change their views.
And it seems very sensible to skip any thread that is about a title you have no interest in whatsoever.
There are some classic tv shows where a lot of the episodes are bad but if you enjoy the good ones I think it's fun to debate whether everyone else thinks similarly about which episodes are bad.

Some Prairie episodes I find extremely dull - usually the dream ones but with over 200 episodes you can't expect every one to be a classic. Even The X Files has a fair few duds

I got an email from Amazon the other day giving me an April delivery date for the season 8 Blu here in the UK yet the listing on Amazon still shows no release date??!!??

Actually, I didn't have a problem with him not liking the show. I don't mind if someone pops in and says "didn't care for it", "not my cup of tea", whatever. What I didn't like was the demeaning of the people who watch it, like I'm less of a man for liking it and immature for watching it. It's a show that was very popular during it's time and not only watched by females. Sure beats a lot of the trash that's on today. Oh, by the way I watched MTM when I was a kid too. Didn't care much for MASH though. I watched all kinds of shows when I was a kid!

I got the same email here in the states a couple days ago, but Amazon is still showing it as unavailable with no release date.

There's nothing wrong with discussing bad episodes. It's been done in this thread and nobody has been criticized for it.

I never watched MTM, but would probably enjoy it since I enjoyed Ted Knight in Too Close for Comfort. I do wonder where MTM is on cable or Blu-ray or how its DVD sales are compared to Little House DVD sales if someone thinks watching it makes them superior to people who enjoy Little House. I didn't care for MASH as a kid, but may enjoy it if I gave it a chance as an adult. I watched and enjoyed a lot of stuff as a kid that would make critics cringe like Dukes of Hazzard, Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, Punky Brewster, Happy Days, Three's Company, Diff'rent Strokes, Who's The Boss, Fall Guy, and Full House. I also watched and enjoyed more critically acceptable shows like I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Family Ties, Cheers, and The Wonder Years.

Weird goings on in the Amazon review section where somebody is whinging that their season 7 Bluray has no slipcover or UV codes so they've returned it for a refund. This stupidity reminds me of the UK Disney thread at Bluray.com where there are thousands of comments but try and find any about the quality of discs and you'll be lucky as they are all buried in amongst the thousands that talk about nothing but slipcovers. You would think that constant reissues of the same films in a slightly different slipcover was doomed to failure but it seems there are fools about who collect slipcovers and not movies

Early on in this thread I remarked that I could certainly whine about the lousy cover art for each of the releases of these season sets...but that I wouldn't--mostly because of the great quality of the product and the amazingly low prices which were being charged for seasons 1-6.

The sets were/are too good a bargain to be whining about horrible cover art and whether or not there is or isn't a slipcover (collectors or not!).

Agreed.
I have to say that cover art is not something that affects my purchasing decisions in any way and whether a slipcover is included is totally irrelevant.

I assume stopping slipcovers on the Blu was part of Lionsgates moves to make the Blus as cheap as possible to produce, hence the move to MOD but as the dvd's have not been interrupted do they still include the slip?

Post removed.

Advocacy of breaking copyright provisions is not tolerated.

From the HTF Rulebook:

5. Respect for copyrights. Home Theater Forum has a strict policy of respecting the rights of copyright holders. We do not allow promotion of bootleg material or discussion on how to obtain it, and we immediately delete all links to sites that deal in bootleg material. If you have any doubt whether a source is legitimate, please check with a moderator before posting any links. We also do not allow discussion of (a) how to make unauthorized copies of video or audio materials, (b) how to defeat any form of copy protection (including, for example, how to make "personal" copies of commercially produced DVDs), and/or © how to obtain equipment that can only be used for such purposes. In one form or another, this rule goes back to the very origins of HTF. We are serious about it. Please do not try to debate copyright law with us. We're not interested in discussing what the law should be. Public discussion about copyright law is allowed as long as it doesn't violate any portion of this or any other site rule. We believe it is in the best interest of HTF to enforce this policy strictly, and members test it at their peril.
