I have to wonder if Parenthood went off the air sooner (like 2 seasons ago) and freed up Lauren Graham, would they have been able to move up the production schedule for the GG reunion telemovies? :D :D :D

It's official!

Variety is reporting that deals have been reached with Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Sean Gunn, Keiko Agena and Kelly Bishop. No word yet either way on Melissa McCarthy, or Rory's main love interests (Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry). McCarthy's sitcom "Mike & Molly" was recently cancelled by CBS, but she already has a full plate of feature film commitments. Padalecki and Czuchry are series regulars on "Supernatural" and "The Good Wife", respectively, potentially limiting their participation.

Amy Sherman-Palladino is back as showrunner, with her husband Daniel Palladino also back as a writer/director/executive producer.

TVLine is reporting that the tentative title for the revival is "Gilmore Girls: Seasons", and which consist of four TV movies, each set during a different season, with the project in total covering one calendar year. The site is also reporting that filming begins Feb. 2 (Tuesday!) in Los Angeles.

I don't know if every former boyfriend of Rory's needs to come back but I know I'd enjoy seeing them all again. I'm hoping Melissa McCarthy has found a way to fit this into her schedule and they're just not commenting on her participation to make it a surprise for people.

I know why...

Because it makes her out to be so excited by the project and she says it "oh hell, yeah" will be worth the wait and they're going to use those final four words.

That's why.

Additional coverage:

Gilmore Girls Revival: AS-P Talks 'Single' Rory, F-Bomb Dropping Emily, Netflix Rollout Wish (Part 2)

So it sounds like ASP assumed McCarthy wouldn't be available, and wrote the four feature-length episodes accordingly. However, she reached out to McCarthy's people to let them know they'd work to get her in to the extent she could make herself available. And then McCarthy's people, for whatever reason, never passed on the message to her. Given all of that, and given all of the fan demand, I think the ship has sailed for a major Sookie presence, but I still wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to include a cameo, even if Sookie's just Skyping Lorelei from across the country.

It's almost an unbelievable premise...that no one would have even thought to ask if McCarthy was available before writing the scripts. But then to add on the fact that feelers were eventually put out only to be lost along the way closes the deal completely.

The first thing that my wife said when I gave her the thumbnail sketch as laid out in Adam's links/description was: "Oh, I guess they didn't get along?"

First photo from the set of the revival:

So it looks like Michel Gerard will be back behind the desk at the Dragonfly Inn. And how is it that Lauren Graham looks exactly the same as she did when the show ended? It's like she aged to play Sarah Braverman, and then reversed back to 2007 for this revival.

And Rose Abdoo posted this photo from the table read:

David Sutcliffe has also hinted he'll make an appearance as the hated Christopher. Aris Alvarado has also confirmed he'll be back as Caesar, the unheralded giant that keeps Luke's running when Luke is off dealing with Lorelei's insanity.

Still no confirmation about whether Milo Ventimiglia will be back as Jess. The actor is famously (infamously?) reluctant to reprise roles once the job is done, but last year he posted this on Facebook: "Again, I’m always vocal Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino; they’re two of my favorite people and two of my favorite writers ever of all time. Just to be able to speak their words again, of course I would do it. So I told them, yeah, of course I’ll do it."

You beat me to the punch, Adam. I was going to post that same picture of Lorelai and Michel.

She does look great there.

How about Jared Padelecki? Is he confirmed?

No word either way yet. I would imagine that he'd like to participate, but he's the star of a show that shoots in Vancouver, so I don't know whether he'll be able to get away. As you know, Czuchry usually only has a few scenes an episode on "The Good Wife", so I can understand how he can split his time between NYC and LA, but Padelecki is in the vast majority of the scenes on "Supernatural".

Gilmore Girls: Milo Ventimiglia Officially Back as Jess for Netflix Revival

This was the one I was waiting for. I'm not sure I want Rory back with any of her love interests from the original run, but of the big three (Dean, Jess, Logan), Jess always seemed like her kindred spirit. Two introverts with their noses buried in books, even though Rory was as generally pleasant as he was generally surly.

That news really drove home how much time has passed since "Gilmore Girls". When he shot his first appearance toward the middle of season one, he was 37. He's 52 now, with the salt-and-pepper stubble to prove it.
