I will still look to complain to higher ups at EVGA but I am done buying there product and I am going to keep blasting them on social media for how they treated my replacement. I had talked to another person at work that builds his own system that told me the same thing I thought that they should have sent me a GTX 960 instead of the 950. Will be buying a video card from ASUS next time and most likely will buy a 256bit card with 4GB of DDR5 memory.

Cooler Master claimed they would upgrade me so when it arrives tomorrow I will will check it out before unpacking it. But as long as I get the same level and wattage of power supply I will be ok with it. The UPS tracking number says it will arrive tomorrow.

Power supply arrived and I am busy rewiring my pc getting it ready to bot up again. Am trying to decide if I will use the new card EVGA sent me or just use the old secondary card. I will figure that out after I eat and finish the wiring then I will uninstall the old driver and install the new driver if I install the new card. My plan later on is to buy a nicer ASUS GTX-960 or 970 with 4GB of DDR5.

So glad my pc is back up and running again!

Thank you to Cooler Master for getting me a power supply sooner rather than 7-14 days later. Thank you to Cooler Master for upgrading me to a totally modular platinum power supply!

To EVGA they did send me a video card but they sent me a downgrade not an upgrade! I love how they sent me a 128bit card that was cheaper instead of sending me a price equivalent replacement and a 256bit card and thanks for being sneaky and prorating the new card back to the original purchase date of the original video card! I emailed corporate but for some reason I do not think anything will be fixed! I am assuming that I will be replacing the new card that I have not yet installed with a ASUS GTX-960 or GTX 970 with 4GB of DDR5 memory. Or I might get a Gigabyte video card since I already have a Gigabyte motherboard. That and I want to upgrade my 16GB DDR3 to faster 32GB DDR3 memory.

I emailed corporate and got more excuses from EVGA so I am officially done with them!

Do not buy EVGA because if something goes bad you will not get a equal replacement because they will send you a replacement based on current worth of old product and you will get a cheaper replacement than what you purchased!

Thanks for the heads-up. That policy is bullshit!

I am now getting Netflix and will have to see if I keep it or not. Was watching the fist episode of Star Trek Voyager: The Caretaker and the video quality on that episode really sucked. Have watched some Emergency and the pilot for the original Star Trek and the quality was good enough.

Baring any negative feedback about the Samsung UBD K8500 UHD Blu-ray player I am planning on buying one next month about a week after they become available. The next goal for my HT will be updating my one connect for my UHD TV then I will need to save up for the receiver upgrade. Also the Samsung will be an interim player for a few years till something better from Marantz, Denon or Oppo is released. Right now I am looking into a Marantz flagship receiver to take the place of my Pioneer Elite SC-05. While I will keep an open mind when I get closer to a new receiver but right now the Marantz is on the top of my list.

Brands under consideration including my top current choice:

  • Marantz
  • Denon
  • Integra
  • Rotel
  • Yamaha (Maybe)
  • Onkyo (Maybe)
  • Anthem ??
Not sure about the current Pioneer Elites unless there reliability percentage has improved and unless things have changed with Sony no Sony!

No:

  • Sony
  • Regular Pioneer
  • Sherwood !
  • Harman Kardon

Find myself itching for 2/19 to roll around so I can go purchase the UHD Blu-ray player. But this means having to upgrade my one connect for my UHD TV and planning my receiver upgrade.

Also I need to start thinking about getting a 4K UHD projector after my receiver upgrade! After that I will ether upgrade to matching Bowers & Wilkens bookshelf speakers to go with my Bowers & Wilkens center channel or upgrade the upcoming Samsung UBD K8500 UHD Blu-ray player to something better. 4K UHD is my end of line for my home theater as I honestly can not see going beyond that.

While I have not purchased dvd's in a long time I am officially writting off dvd titles and from no on 1080p Blu-ray minimum with most titles going to UHD 4K! Certain movies or tv shows I will purchase on 1080p Blu-ray and the rest of my library will be centered around UHD 4K Blu-ray disc's.

In the next month my plan is to purchase UHD titles!

This is my email to DTS regaurding possible upcoming DTS-X titles that I sent 2/5/2016

"I am currently saving up for a UHD blu-ray player and will also be purchasing UHD blu-ray discs. I already own a UHD display and my next upgrade will be a 4K UHD switching receiver with Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. When can we exspect to see movies with DTS-X at our local retailers? Will there be any studios offering movies with DTS-X anytime soon?"

Dave:

Do you still have your VOTs? I have wanted a pair of VOTs since I first heard them in 1974. Now a days they are way out of
my price range. Back then you could buy a kit with the horn, bass and crossover and get a layout on constructing the cabinet
yourself. I helped two friends build them and they ended up costing about $500 each including the cost of the wood. LOVE
these speakers and would be huge to have 5 of them in a 5.1 system.

I have played around with the Pioneer Elite SC-99 and have seen it on Ebay for ~$2K. It is a killer receiver with all the bells and whistles including Atmos and DTS-X.

Hello Parker

Yes I still have my Altec VOT's I have wanted to refinish them for a number of years but money keeps being an issue around the time I get around to actually getting it done. I can not say I have not thought about selling them but in all honesty I love the sound and it would cost me a decent amount of money to get something else to replace them. Right now I am driving them with a Pioneer Elite SC-05 but am currently looking at something from Marantz. My next upcoming purchase will be the Samsung UHD blu-ray player next Friday. I would love to have 5 more of these if I had the room for them to have a 7.1 system but I am lucky to have the room for just two of them. Plus even if I sold them I do not think I would get much for them and a decent replacement would cost me around $3200 plus tax for a pair of Bowers & Wilkins CM9 S2 floor standing speakers since I added a Bowers & Winkens 600 series center channel.

Not sure if I would go with a new Pioneer Elite since I am not sure if the reliability is back and plus I think I would rather go with a Audyssey set up instead of the MCACC or YPAO. I have some time before I am able to get a new receiver so there is plenty of time to do research when I get closer to purchase time. I will go with my best option and if that ends up being the Pioneer Elite I will not rule it out but currently looking at Marantz and Denon.

The countdown has begun and am just waiting till payday so I can go to my local Best Buy Magnolia and purchase my
Samsung UBD-K8500 UHD 4K Blu-ray Player

Hopefully they will have some UHD blu-ray movies in stock when I go pick up this player. Best Buy online chat said the player would be available at Cerritos, CA store 2/16 and I will be confirming availability before I drive there to pick it up! But I expect to have the player purchased and in my home theater by noon 2/19/2016!!!! Will be posting photos next Friday!

It was said back in the day that this was the best stereo cassette deck you could buy! I remember that I wanted on real bad but could never afford one. I am still how ever hoping to get a decent reel to reel tape deck.
