Sorry if this is off topic.

Background: The people in the main house paid and controlled the cable Shaw feed. My apartment was just another room to the cable company. They moved out and my free cable ended. I built a DIY antenna and it didn't work. I tried just plugging the coaxial cable into the wall outlet and...

    Lost Connection

I had to bounce it off of someone who knows, and I found that right here. Thanks all, for your thoughts and help. Much appreciated! We're building a Tiny House so we probably should get a new tv that might fit better and be more adjustable. ~Ray

    Lost Connection

Thanks Dave. I don't really care for non-elegant solutions to connectivity problems, ....they never work up to snuff, so a new tv it will be. ~ray

    Lost Connection

Greetings, I just bought a Nexus Player, for Android....thinking it would pump my Samsung Galaxy Tablet 3 onto my tv....a 42" LG, Model # RU42PX10, ..but, much to my surprise I find my tv doesn't have an HDMI port. My main interest here is to see on my tv screen what is on my tablet (not the...

    Where in system....

After talking with the Shaw (tv signal provider) representative, I have been informed that they broadcast, currently, in 720, so using Component cables would give me the best possible picture quality. The manual for the digital box lists DVI-D connection as the best. Finding DVI-D cables has...

The 5.1 sound system is a SONY DAV-S300. The tv is an LG plasma RU-42PX10. The digital box is a SHAW DCT-6200/2000. If you want photos of the separate unit's outputs/inputs, just ask. Thanks.

    Where in system....

Talk about your 'beginner' question: Now that I have connected my Sony Surround Sound Theatre system to work correctly with my LG HD tv, I have been given a Shaw Digital Box. Where, in the system, should it be connected.....just a rough idea...between the TV and the Sound system, or after? I...

    TV sound through Sony 5.1

OK, I went through every conceivable combination, armed with your suggestions, and it now works. I get the three front speakers plus woofer handling the normal TV stereo output. When a 5.1 movie is show on tv I suspect it will work with the full set of speakers. Thanks for your patience. I...

    TV sound through Sony 5.1

Yes they do. I believe the photos show this. BTW, I tried all of the expected ins and outs and it still doesn't work.

The TV also has the usual red/white/yellow on the side. These are all I really need for playing DVD's, which I repeat, play just fine in 5.1 sound.

    TV sound through Sony 5.1

Sorry about the multiple posts but I kept getting a message saying it didn't work, try again. The tv source is SHAW cable. The box isn't available to me as it is in a different part of the house, not in my apartment. Sure, I can take some photos.
