I envy you having to watch this for the first time in magnificent quality. My first viewing was on a pan scanned rental VHS in the 80's. Make sure you watch it on a big screen, it really is a film made for the big screen.
The cult Japanese 70's scifi cartoon, Captain Future, is being released on BD in Germany.
Growing up watching German TV I have very fond childhood memories of this show, and will be getting the Blurays this time. The long time OOP 2003 DVD's are going for insane prices at Amazon.de.
Great interview. Thanks.
The new Arrow UK BD is on Amazon UK for 13£.
There is some mention of minor digital tinkering in the interview. Purists might want to wait and hear the extent of it, before purchase.
Does anyone know if the disc was fixed in other areas besides the US? Specifically if the UK and Scandinavian editions contain the correct English soundtrack?
The Danish original also had a second season, which is not quite as good as the first season but still quality TV. Both can be watched on their own, there are no end-of-season cliffhangers. A third season will debut on Danish TV in the fall of 2012. Very much looking forward to this one.
Hen's Tooth's own website: http://www.henstoothvideo.com/bluray.html
lists the release as 1.78:1. Imdb has the OAR listed as 2.35:1.
Fingers crossed that Mr. Dobbs and Harris are correct, and it was shot flat.

The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo is worth a blind purchase in my opinion, if you don't mind foreign language films. A word of warning however. The sequels are not in the same league as the first film (personal opinion), and I wouldn't recommend them for blind purchase when they are released...
Given that Kurt Russell actually directed the film, that would explain it . Check out this article http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/2006/09/russell_ghosted.php
I'm not convinced this release is the theatrical cut. The statement at bluray.com says 138 mins. But the theatrical cut ran 134 mins,
and the director's cut runs 144 mins. Adjusting the 144 mins to PAL speedup results in 138 mins.
Maybe Sony are preapring a European DVD release of the director's...
