"Northwest Passage" was an abysmal transfer too, albeit released in 2011. Not sure if it was a dated master or not. The thing that's for sure is that the source print was a poorly manufactured composite of the 3-strip Technicolor masters with registration problems galore and crackly...
Are there any specific markings (numbers, letters, codes, etc. on the discs or packaging which would indicate if they were in the afflicted batch of discs?
I'm specifically talking about Bigger than Life and Seven Samurai.
For those who own this disc, I'm curious as to whether or not both the stereo and 5.1 audio tracks are based on the original 4-track mix. A reviewer on another site said that the 2.0 track was mono, but I'm not exactly trusting of them. If the audio isn't based on the original stereo, I might...
When did you purchase your copies of Seven Samurai and Bigger than Life? Also, how do I know if my copies are from the afflicted pressing or a later pressing without problems?
Bigger than Life is affected too? Damnit! Anyone had their copy of Seven Samurai bronze? Neither of these have posed problems for me as of yet, and I bought them both from Barnes and Noble in late 2012. Are these from the first pressing?
That's exactly what happened to me.
My question as to why the line stopped this year still hasn't been answered. Maybe it was due to quality control issues like The King and I or perhaps because Fox supposedly laid off a number of home video staff. I doubt this question will ever get an exact...
I thought that Fox had given up on their Studio Classics line! To say I'm shocked and excited is a huge understatement! I second the motion for Captain from Castile and Nightmare Alley!
Nice to hear of a non-disaster Technicolor release from FCA. If I might ask though, how problematic is color fringing? That's a hallmark of Fox Technicolor titles not given proper restorative care.
I guess if Shout says that they now have it, they have it. Also, old information that is no longer accurate may have been deleted to avoid causing confusion.
I'm just another Joe Blow on the internet who really doesn't know anything compared to you, so do feel free to correct me.
What I prefer color-wise is for the film to be as close to the original look as possible. If that's what the BD of The Blue Max is, then I am satisfied.
I'm not one of...
It's called The *Blue* Max, isn't it? [cue rimshot]
I'm not sure it's entirely fair to compare an iTunes upload to a BD.
I'm perfectly happy with the BD of The Blue Max.
I'd like to see more questions about whether or not Fox is going to continue releasing catalog than arguments over brown vs...
