SONY KDL-46HX820 - picture mode questions

Don't know about scene selects, I just go with auto on that. Don't know about service settings. I think the picture modes are different from each other but I've not tested it. To test, make all settings the same then switch between cinema, standard etc. and see if there's a difference.

Vizio 47" speakers popping and crackling!

TV speakers are pretty cheap, prone to failure. A cheap HTS would solve the Vizio problem, probably one of those newish "soundbars" would work too, since they're marketed to replace crummy TV sound systems. Just go on line, find a "name" soundbar for sale - Bose probably has one - and you can...

    Amplifier For Turntable?

Thank you both. The turn table is old so it's MC. I picked up a TC-750, looks like what I need to groove on some vinyl!

    Amplifier For Turntable?

I hooked up a turntable through an Onkyo TX-SR304. The volume is weak, compared to CD player volume for example. Do I need an amplifier? If so, what should I be looking for? I assume something pretty basic. Thanks!

Problems with TV, connection or DVR?

Thanks Gregg I'll try it. I assume that setting the DVR at 1080i will still work OK with 720 and 480 signals?

Problems with TV, connection or DVR?

Having a couple of issues and hope you all can help. I have two Sony 46" LCD's, fairly new, both connected with HDMI directly from Time Warner HDTV DVR's. In turning the TV on, or changing channels, the picture comes on, then goes black for a second, then comes in OK. Would connecting through a...

Two thumbs up to Sony customer service!! Samsung should follow suit...

My 46" Sony LCD, out of warranty, developed horizontal banding. Sony's phone rep advised that my TV had an additional 5 year warranty on the panel because of the banding issue. The following week my new panel was delivered and installed for free.

My Sony Wega KD34XBR970 just died.

I feel your pain, having owned two XBRs years ago. I now have three Sony LEDs...good blacks, lousy sound but I run all TV audio through good sound systems. Plasma will give you the best blacks, but I can't control the light in the house, which nixes plasma.

New Sony KDL-46HX820: problems with flashlighting & clouding - returnable? fixable?

Definitely contact Sony, but first check out the Sony support pages for your model. You may find info on the problem, and maybe even a Sony recall.

what to buy: Vizio XVT553SV or Sharp LC 60LE810UN???

I was referring to initial warranty, though I think extended is a good idea too. Pay with AMEX and you get an additional year added to the initial warranty.

what to buy: Vizio XVT553SV or Sharp LC 60LE810UN???

Compare warranty service - in house? who pays shipping to manufacturer?

    Extended warranty recommendation

Note that if you buy with an AMEX card you get an extra year added on to the mfgr's warranty. I have had to use the service one time, and all went fine.

Need to step up...can you help?

Dennis thanks for a perfect example of the difference between a theater room and a room with uncontrollable light.
