There's a new German Blu-ray disc from Anolis (3 different Mediabook editions + Softbox edition). It uses the previous master from the Studio Hamburg release but it's in 1080/24p.
Bonus materials:
- Audio commentary with Dr. Rolf Giesen, Uwe Sommerlad and Alexander Iffländer
- Documentary...
The MoC only has two audio tracks, the Twilight Time disc has five, so the feature can be smaller on the British disc while having a higher video bitrate.
Glenn Erickson is wrong. "Die Brücke / The Bridge" was always intended for 1.37:1. It was shown in this aspect ratio in German cinemas, on German TV and also The German DVD and Blu-ray are in 1.37:1. this PDF from The Bernhard Wicki Gedächtnis Fond says it's in 1.37:1...
I thought it was clear that standard definition means that the 3D version will be anaglyphic. But the cover shows it clearly: http://www.kochmedia-film.de/blu-ray/details/view/film/die_rache_des_ungeheuers_blu_ray/
German label Koch Media will release Jack Arnolds "Revenge of the Creature" on Blu-ray in August 2015. Unfortunately this disc will contain the 3D version only in standard definition. Missed opportunity.
Sorry for going off topic again, but "Topaz" is available in a shorter Version in Germany on DVD and Blu-ray. It uses the "suicide ending" and not the "airport ending" from the longer version.
The first and second editions contains the same bonus materials. I kept one of the Criterions because the PAL DVD was bare bones. The Criterion Blu-ray misses the "Films of Stanley Donen" filmography.
Indeed it was. That's the reason why I kept my PAL DVD and the first Criterion edition and sold Criterion's second edition. Why keeping the old Criterion and not the anamorphic one? For bonus materials and because it was my very first disc from the New Yorker label.
