That's not what I hear on the disc itself. The SFX are out of sync on the DTS:X (and the old Blu-ray's 5.1), but in the mono, they're bang-on.
A separate issue is that in the "uncut" version, Arbogast's final scream is heard on the third stab instead of the first, where it obviously should be...
Very much looking forward to this. I'm also glad the original theatrical cut will finally be available again after many, many years (and never in widescreen AFAIK).
As a side note, this is one of my favorite examples of an original song overshadowing the movie it was written for, that of course...
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but someone on one of the other forums pointed out that there's a slight music error on the new UHD.
When Kong attacks the crew trying to cross the ravine, the score should kick in at about 1:13:22 (right on the cut to Jeff Bridges running back toward...
I generally find shifting aspect ratios to be pretty distracting myself, even on an IMAX screen. But there is something to be said for the picture filling your entire field of view, so going from 1.90 to 1.43 on a "classic" IMAX screen that's like 4 or 5 stories tall does make a certain kind of...
If I may ask, what is the running time of the "1982 cut" on this new release? I've never quite been able to figure out exactly what played in theaters back then. I've read some things that suggest the film was actually fiddled with while it was in theaters, or maybe that the preview/premiere...
I feel it was kind of mismarketed. It was sold as this celebration of the "magic of movies," when it was really more about how devoting yourself to your passion can complicate your relationship with your family. But yes, it's a very good movie. :)
Just wanted to bump this thread to acknowledge the passing of David J. Skal, who produced documentaries and provided commentaries for a number of the classic Universal Monsters films on DVD (and carried over to Blu-ray and UHD). He was killed in a tragic car accident on New Year's Day.
His...
This is going back to an earlier conversation, but concerning the "one point red" issue on the 2008 Blu-rays...
Am I correct in my understanding that the Blu-rays ended up being essentially "one point" more red than the DCPs? Is that based on a 50-point scale, which would translate to about 2%...
Not sure if this is the place to discuss this, but the linear channel Showtime is officially "Paramount Plus With Showtime" starting today. However, all the additional linear channels still retain their regular "Showtime" names (Showtime 2, Showcase, Showtime Extreme). And apparently some...
There's definitely room for improvement on The Dark Crystal. The 4K video remaster is fine, but the compression on Sony's relatively early UHD isn't as good as it could be.
Dolby Vision would be a nice addition, as would the original audio, since we've been stuck with the error-ridden remixes...
I know KILLS did that, but that was in 2021 when we were still at the height of Covid (even though it's still technically an issue for many). It was the same with ENDS?
At any rate, that was specifically on Peacock alone and for a limited time, similar to the HBO Max situation in 2021. For...
Wow. Only 2-1/2 weeks after its theatrical release.
I'm starting to wonder why studios are still even bothering to put their movies in theaters at all.
