The Great Escape and 633 Squadron . The King and I paired with Carousel. Two great evenings though I seem to remember 633 Squadron was a shortened version. You certainly got value for money in those days.

Convalescing, so took the opportunity to view the dvd of Finian's Rainbow and wondering how much improved is the sound on the blu ray. Is it worth a double dip?

I think that this was his worst film. Mind you I saw it as a postage stamp sized image lost on the Cinerama screen.

FWIW I think that the roadshow version was on the long side and I think an opportunity to give us a really great film was lost when the film was shortened. In my opinion it was the following scenes that should have cut as the added nothing to the story: John Wayne's Republic speech. The feather...

I am always wary of buying blu ray titles from Spain with just a Dolby Digital soundtrack. Makes me think that something is not quite right.
