How safe is it to wall mount a 60" tv, the walls have metal studs ?

Nwebie question. If I connect all components (TV, DVD Player, Roku, DVR) to the receiver with HDMI cables will it provide the best sound depending on the source ? With all the technical verbage in the manual I just want to insure that I'm not missing something and don't need an optical cable...

Both are turned on.

2 issues: 1. If the system is on and I select FM- then the fm starts and quickly the tv and onkya shuts off. 2. Quite often when the system is turned on it is suppose to got to the sat/cbl source but instead goes to the tv/cd source. The sat/cbl is on HDMI 3, nothing is connected to the tv/cd...
