Are there still problems with the wireless guitar, especially for the Wii, or have those been fixed at this point?

I don't know, but if you don't have it yet, I'd wait until October for the new game. The guitar is supposedly going to be totally redesigned to function "more like a real guitar."

Re: Any Guitar Hero III for X360 folks?

alright i got a question. picked up rock band last night but it also pertains to GH3.

say you have a single note, but there is like 8 of them in a row. I can't ever hit them enough, i dont know if i have no rythym or what, but it seems likei just can't strum the bar fast enough to hit those notes.

do you just flick the strum really fast and hope you hit them all or what? Im just not 'getting it' i guess.

I've been playing GH and RB games for some time now, but this is still one of my Kryptonites. I never could nail sequences like that as well. Alot of people seem to have trouble with it. I have pretty much given up hope of ever being able to master this (Lag could be an issue here as well, you can calibrate the lag from the menu options, if you have not already done so). I never could really master the up and down strumming. I probably should practice it more, but every time I try it, I mess up horribly so I never really bothered with it.

Great, so now I need to get another freaking guitar, that would make 5 for me. Not to mention paying the full 80 or so dollars for the next game with the guitar. Hopefully the won't screw people and will make the GHIII guitars compatible.

Depends on how quick they are, but if they are rapid fire, then you need to do up/down fast strumming. Takes a while to get used to it if you've always just strummed in one direction.

It sucks, but that's how it is with everything. I keep putting off getting a new computer because something new is always coming along. You just have to buy something and know the next best thing is around the corner.

Re: Any Guitar Hero III for X360 folks?

Here's the new guitar:

Spoiler:

Spoilerized only because the image is large and I think that means it won't load unless you unspoilerize.

Looks pretty sweet.

Some info:

Quote:
World Tour introduces a new guitar controller that is even more feature-laden than past designs. Before you get in a huff about just buying the Les Paul or X-plorer models from past Guitar Hero games, know that Activision has told us these will still work in World Tour. They just won't have access to all of the new stuff the added features bring to the table. That being said, you're going to want the new axe.

The near final guitar. Note the new touch pad located on the neck.

The biggest addition to the new guitar is the touch pad located on the neck. While playing a song, this touch sensitive strip allows you to alter notes during sustains by sliding up and down the strip (giving more freedom and options than what you had before with just a whammy bar). It can also be used for tapping to play notes, particularly awesome if you want to mimic a slap bass. The real power of the touch pad comes in the music creator. We'll get to that soon.

Other changes have been made to the design as well. The back/select button has been made to look like the bridge of the guitar. It's easier to hit for activating star power and gives a more realistic look to the body. The entire body is bigger, as well, approaching something closer to a real guitar. The d-pad has been given a bit of style as well by reshaping it to look more like a knob.

All of the previous great features are still there on this guitar, too. It's wireless and sleek, has an accelerometer for activating star power (and more) and will make use of new custom faceplates. In short, it's the best guitar controller we've seen yet.

Guitar Hero World Tour Preview

Whoa. This is looking really interesting.

Given that I am nowhere near completing GH3, should I even be considering Rock Band now, or should I just keep playing GH3 and wait till World Tour comes out? I'm starting to think the latter makes more sense. Especially since I also have the distraction of Lego Star Wars and a new racing wheel to play with.

So much to watch/play, so little time...

I'm no expert, since I don't have any of these games, but I would just wait for World Tour. The question this preview doesn't answer: does it make any sense as a solo game? Everyone says don't get Rock Band if you aren't going to make it a party and get people on the drums and mic, so I'm wondering if the same holds true for World Tour.

Re: Any Guitar Hero III for X360 folks?

one of the main complaints i've heard about gh3 vs rock band is gh3 is hard to just be hard with no rhyme or reason. rock band's higher difficulties the note layouts make more sense and seem like your really playing.

if you have the guitars, and enjoy playing guitars, go to a used store and pick up rock band. Thats what we did. you can do the tour as a solo and still enjoy the game. For me it just came down to wanting to play the songs rock band has. nine inch nails, stone temple pilots, nirvana. Just music i enjoy more.

at the used place we got the game only for 30 bucks so it was a no brainer.

oh, and this only works on 360's. the ps3's gh3 guitars wont work in rock band.
