Top PS3 Game?

I'm getting a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player (and for my collection of PS1/ PS2 games). I have very little time for gaming these days, but I'm thinking of maybe picking up one next-gen title as long as I'm getting the console. Any recommendations? Based on what I've read so far, I'm leaning towards Resistance or Ninja Gaiden, or maybe Motorstorm.

Well, Oblivion is simply amazing, although it's arguably better on the Xbox right now just because of the upgrades available (for the record, I own both versions).

If you have little time for gaming , Motorstorm might be the better choice. It seems like a nice game where you can pick up the controller and have ago for a few minutes. I too, bought my PS3 as a Blu-Ray player first, gaming unit second.

It came with Resistance, but I'm less than half way through and have no real desire to complete the game. Ninja Gaiden is way too difficult to casually play. And Oblivion is great, if you can devote the time to it.

Re: Top PS3 Game?

I think I'd just be frustrated by Oblivion due to my limited gaming time -- I'm afraid to even try and get into a detailed RPG like that.

The console arrived yesterday, and I popped in ye olde ATV Off-Road Fury 2 just to make sure it was working OK (the carton was a little beat-up). My 2-year-old sat in my lap and zoomed the camera view around with the right stick while I steered with the left. Good times.

James, what don't you like about Resistance? Did it just get too repetitive after a while?

Re: Top PS3 Game?

Resistance just seemed like a straight forward FPS. No bells and whistles. I actually thought the same about Gears of War when I first tried it out last year. But I played past the first level recently to give it a chance and fell in love with the game. So going from Gears to Resistance was a huge step back to me. I might end up going back and playing Resistance, but right now (and for the last 2 months) I've had no real desire to do so
