Jack Thompson: We Must Ban GTA: SA, Killer 7 and the Sims 2. Er...

So you know that Senator Jack Thompson was the reason behind the AO rating in GTA and got it recalled.

But now he's gone off the deep end. He called for Killer 7 to be banned because of a sex scene...turns out he never saw the scene in the game, only read about it in IGN, and was pretty much wrong on every single count.

Ah, but now he wants to ban the Sims 2 because you can unblur the Sims with a cheat code and watch them nude. He says you can see everything, EA says you see them as barbie and ken dolls. He goes far enough to say the game promotes pedofiles.

Man, I hate this Senator.

Yeah, I hate what he's doing, but I really hope that he keeps making noise about the Sims. Most people can condemn GTA pretty easily, but people's mothers play the sims. It's an even more absurd argument, and hopefully it forces people to see him for the dumbass he is.

I wonder if the next GTA game will have a "Senator Thompson" character...

Actually, he's not a Senator, just a angry little man with a hard-on (pun intended) for the unholy horrors of sex and violence in pop culture. He's not just behind the jihad against GTA:SA and Killer 7, he's also the guy behind the 2 Live Crew whackosity in the 80s and the half-million dollar fines for ClearChannel that spurred Howard Stern to satellite radio. I'd laugh at the man, except he's been effective in stifling First Amendment expression in the post-Janet era. I can only hope that he and others like him (Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, etc.) suffer a huge setback in the next year or two, especially at the legislative level.

The ESRB and IGDA need to be more aggressive in their efforts against people like this. If Thompson won't use legalese when he talks, neither should they anymore.

A little harsh, don't you think?

The man's insane and needs to stop being a jackass, but I'm not going to wish for a horrible death.

I can't really remember, but there was a lady who complained(might have been about Jerry Springer) and complained loud. All she did was get more publicity for what she was complaining about and got her neighbours to hate her.

People like this jerk-off hide behind the "it's for the children" mantra. He does not want retailers to be refrained from selling Bully, GTA and the like to minors, he just wants to have these games banned altogether. Why? Sadly, because he does not like them, IMO. Or, maybe he is just being a good little capitalist and has found his niche (and thus, a way to make a ton of cash). Either way, he needs to be stopped.

If this jerk-off put half his resources elsewhere, into something useful, maybe he could devise a way to balance the budget or cure world hunger. Instead, he wants to throw the bill of rights out the window.

If sick-o's like this get their way and "protect" you and I from Bully and GTA and so on, don't think they will stop there. Eventually the only video game you will be able to play is pong (and who knows, this fucking dildo might get worried about that "poor ball").

On the other hand, the ignorance of this guy and his cohorts can be incredibly amusing...

Another thing about this dildo is that every time he opens his idiot mouth, all he is doing is giving these games free advertising.
