The Godfather... The Video Game???

In case you haven't heard, Electronic Arts is planning on making The Godfather into a video game. It's supposed to be a Grand Theft Auto style game with voice talents of James Caan, Robert Duvall, and even Marlon Brando (who recorded the voice acting for the game before his death), but Al Pacino is a no show.

I have a feeling with EA it'll lose it's "artsy" feel and have more of a Hollywood explosion fest but eh... Brando's voice should be cool.

Why do I have the feeling that this game is going to be really really bad. It'll probably be a cross between GTA and Mafia, but, you know, not good. Nothing wrong with the GTA formula per se, but trying to cram something like that into an established property (and continuity) never seems to work right.

The theme/genre certainly makes for good videogame fodder, but the idea of that specific movie being translated? I don't see how the story would be properly presented. Would love to hear James Caan, though. Such a great growl to his voice.
