Madden help for a newbie

Hey guys,

I just picked up Madden 2003 for PSX2 (yeah I know I'm a little behind the times but for $12 used.)

I'm not a huge gamer. I rarely have the time to play but I like to mess around. I'm having difficulties tackling. I usually have to let the computer do the work or else I give up too many yards.

Does anyone have any good strategy info?

I'm not a football expert. I know the basics. I use Nickel and Dime formations to try to stop a pass and I use 4-3, 3-4, 4-6 to try to stop the run. I don't know who to control. Sometimes I control the linebackers, but I usually have more luck controlling the CB.

I'm trying to practice as much as possible but I would love some pointers, both offensive and defensive.

Any suggestions...

Thanks and Happy New Year

Tom

On run plays (interior): squeeze the line and bring up the DB's for bump and run coverage

On run plays (outside): use a 3-4 and blitz on the outside

On pass plays (short): Cover 2

On pass plays (intermediate): Cover 3

On pass plays (long): Cover 4

Mix in some man-to-man and zone coverages. And do be aware of holes in the zone.
