The X-Box and CD-Rs

Hey all, I just went to go rip some tracks to my X-Box off of a CD-R I made and the box won't read any of my CD-Rs. Is this a defective unit or is it just not capable of reading CD-Rs? thanks.

I hear it depends on the dvd drive that your box has.

The drives are really touchy. It depends upon the media and the manufacturer of the drive. If you are a gamblin' man, you can tweak the drive. (It requires opening the Xbox, etc...) Do a Google search for "xbox dvd pot adjustment".

That is a common misconception. The other drives can read CD-r's, just not as reliably & not as error tolerant. My drive is a Thompson, and even before tweaking it, I was able to read CD-r's.
