progressive scan can be done on the dvd player of the xbox

hey xbox owners check this out....
i found out that u can enable the feature of progressive scan on the dvd player.....
check it

Here's something I collected from a website on how to do the progressive patch to DVDx2 and the MS Dash. I did it on both and it works great! I try to avoid my Toshiba progressive scan DVD player whenever possible now since the Xbox's DVD player works much better and in my opinion has better picture quality! Here it is:

Progressive Scan Dashboard / DVD Playback
Posted by Sin-Tex at 23:12 PM

News Source: XboxHacker BBS

Open xboxdash.xbe in an hex editor
search for : C7 46 28 20 00 00 00
replace by : C7 46 28 40 00 00 00
your Dash is now in progressive mode only
Tested on a 3944 dash. ( Also confirmed to work on 4627 )
Enjoy !!!

Edited :
For those without a DVD dongle, a little patch for DVDRegionX 2
83 C8 02 C1 E0 04 -> 83 C8 02 C1 E0 05
et voila it's progressive too.

Check here for full details & info.

No, this is not a layman work whatsoever. First you need to chip your system, then you need to know what you're doing in a hex editor. If you don't know what a hex editor is, and what it's used for, and how to get one onto your Xboxen, you should not be attempting this

Yes. You've set it to progscan ONLY which requires component AND a TV that can handle 480p

If you are using a mod chip, just download the progressive scan XBE and ftp it to the 'box.

It might be possible to do this without a mod chip - by using the 007 saved game hole. I suppose that violates the DMCA too, though.

The xbox DVD player is nice, but I and many others have been complaining how dark the picture is. I'd rather just spend $200 on a dedicated standalone so I wouldn't have to open my console and install some wacky chip, while putting a future XBL account in jeopardy.
