It looks good, but the emphasis seems to be on combat.

Yes, its a Castlevania game

. Some are too used to the new "Metroid" style of Castlevania to remember that the series used to focus almost soley on Combat and unique boss battles (and to an extent it still does). After 3 GBA iterations of essentially the same game (Symphony of the Night and dont get me wrong I loved the GBA CSTLV's) I'm willing to keep my mind open to a more traditional take on Castlvania 3D (anything but Castlevani 64, please that torturous

)

This game looks less like a castlevania game and more like a Devil May Cry 3

Yes it does look very similiar to Devil May Cry though I disagree that the game looks nothing like Castlvania. The main character design has Castlevania written all over it as does almost every sub-weapon spell shown in all 5 E3 videos shown. Not too mention the heavy platforming elements that are readily apparent. The story, dealing with the origins of the Belmont family and the use of the whip also looks very interesting.
Furthermore considering DMC was hailed as the 3D Castlevania we all should have been playing its easy to see why the game designers decided to borrow elements from that excellent title (lets forgot about Devil May Cry 2, I'd still like to burn down Capcom headquarters for the miscarriage of a game).

I get the feeling that this is a blow through in a weekend renter when it comes out. Games that are beat 'em ups, tend to be like that.

Don't see much of anything wrong with that. I blew through Aria of Sorrow in a little less than 6 hours. I also blew through Metroid Fusion in less than 5. Didn't make my enjoyment of both games any less and it also didn't stop me from starting up a new game right after I finished the first to experience it again.
If the game is truly a Castlevania game than it will easily hold up to multiple play throughs to relive the boss battle, memorize enemy patterns and to learn to use the various sub-weapons properly. If the game does have an exploration side (and considering this is the producer of Symphony, Harmony and Aria you'd have to be silly to think it wont have some available exploration element) Then we'll get to explore every nook and cranny of the Drac castle again. Of course there is just too little information on this title to make any judgements period right now.
