2008 Fall Schedule

It's that time of year again - the networks are announcing their plans for the fall. This post will have the schedule as it currently stands, updating through the week as the various networks give out their plans.

It might wind up being a weird one, this year - NBC did their upfront a couple months ago without pilots, and the fall will probably see a lot of shows from last year "relaunched" after the writer's strike delayed them . And we still don't know what sort of monkey wrench the SAG/AFTRA negotiations/potential strike will throw into things.

Re: 2008 Fall Schedule

So, how far is Deal or no Deal from a Who Wants to be a Millionaire? style implosion? Anyway, I kind of think what NBC is doing this year is crazy - no pilots (some of these shows haven't even been cast yet), three shows adapting famous stories with various degrees of modernization (Crusoe, Merlin, Kings), and who knows whether Friday Night Lights running on DirectTV will kill any interest in the NBC airings a few months later.

Anyway, I'm sure the Life fans will soon be looking their gift horse in the mouth.

Life on Friday in the 10-spot is ridiculous, to say the least. Just cancel the show and be done with it.

Wow, one post.

Re: 2008 Fall Schedule

As far as I know, there is no Emmy award for "best new drama", and Moonlight's first eligibility for any Emmy award isn't until the Emmy Awards ceremony on September 21, 2008.

ABC is up. Looks a lot like this year, with a little shuffling in the 10pm hours. I'm bummed that Women's Murder Club is done, and just absolutely mystified that According to Jim still has life.

Why, oh why is According to Jim coming back? Just makes the other ABC cancellations more difficult to deal with.

My Own Worst Enemy - another new show that will get crushed and cancelled by its real enemy, CSI: Miami

Wow. You and me both. That's a shame about Women's Murder Club. My wife and I both enjoy watching it.

Re: 2008 Fall Schedule

Huh. So William Shatner gave out incorrect information on "Good Morning, America" this morning? He announced that "Boston Legal" did get picked up for next season, but said it would be in its current Wednesday night slot.

Glad to see "Pushing Daisies" and "Chuck" officially on the schedule. Add me to the list of those puzzled by the longevity of "According to Jim." And so far it looks like Tuesday nights, which used to require flowcharts to juggle all the programs I was watching, may become the night I catch up on some reading.

Thanks, Jason, for compiling this. I've been really wondering what the upfronts were going to look like this year, with pilot season effectively dead.

I know, you think they would have the common sense to find places for their low-rated and passionate fan followings which includes "October Road" (a series I absolutely loved) and "Men in Trees" (although I never watched it).

What's really frustrating about "October Road's" cancellation is ABC gave its second season a bad timeslot/lead-in, lousy promotion, and a long hiatus from the end of Season 1 to Season 2. It was a waiting game to see when it was going to start up again. I'm surprised anyone was able to find the damn show. Thankfully, there's some kind of a resolution in the works.

The good news, and I don't mean to jump ahead to CBS, is that "The Unit" might be coming back for a 13-episode fourth season.
