Lipstick Jungle: Season One

Wow, no comments!

I saw it out of curiousity. It was almost a carbon copy of Cashmere Mafia, not a surprise from the people who were involved in Sex and the City involved in both shows, separately of course.

This first show had to introduce the characters, so it could get better. It was okay. It was odd to see Paul Blackthorne here after getting killed in Big Shots here as Brooke Shield's character's husband. These three shows are the same in genre. All guilty pleasures. Feels like the 80's with Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, etc.

The only character that seemed interesting was the one played by Lindsey Price, maybe cause she's a knock-out.

Re: Lipstick Jungle: Season One

The last time a show opened with so little dialogue in its opening moments was the pilot for Miami Vice. The difference being that Miami Vice was actually showing people doing interesting things.

This was as bad as Cashmere Mafia but for slightly different reasons.

Brooke Shields' "acting style" rubbed off on a few of the other actors, which is quite unfortunate.

The ugly one from Coupling had an utterly inane storyline. Usually you try to focus on the other actors when someone creepy looking is onscreen. Unfortunately, Andrew McCarthy was trying to out-creepy-looking his love interest.

What was with the guy with the spray-painted high-school-production-of-Our-Town hair?

Free Tip: if you're going to set one of your storylines in an environment that makes people think immediately of Entourage, you should not make it so evident that Entourage is 12,000 times better than the garbage you are putting on the screen.

I stayed through the closing credits and then pulled took out the ominous Red High-Liter.

More time to read.

Yay.
