How the hell did Brooke get voted off this week?
I didn't see the elimination show (I never do)....did Jason
at least make the bottom tow?

Not only was Jason not in the final two ... he was the first contestant sent to safety!! Theoretically, he could have been the top vote getter!!!

Re: American Idol - Season 7
I ended up listening to quite a few live Neil Diamond performances on YouTube when I was writing the blog this week, and I was struck by how awful they were. I loved the studio versions, but on stage, he would sing really weird arrangements and, yeah -- it was more halted speaking than singing. And some of these performances went back to 1973.
We usually skip the group sings during the results shows, so I gotta ask -- was that the worst ever?

I may have missed it, but Ryan never said that Shesha & Brooke were in the bottom two, only that one was going home. Shesha could have been #1 and last night's elimination process could have been scripted exactly the same way.
|
I don't know if you were just stating this as an example, but according to dialidol, Syesha was #1, so you may be right.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
The group sing was terribly sung, and the most amateurish, poorly choreographed and cheesy thing I have seen ever outside of a grade school talent show. Absolutely horrible - as was Neil's performance and that blonde whoever-she-is as well.
Brooke knew she was going home ... so did I - she was sooo far in over her head. I firmly believe Jason gets a LOT of votes from the teeny-girls-who-love-his-dimples block.

I agree with everything except with regards to Natasha Bedingfields' ("that blonde whoever-she-is") performance. I think she's got a stellar voice.
Did anyone else notice that when she ran over to the couch to see "David", David Cook stood up and then sat down abruptly when Natasha planted one on Archie's cheek?
Hi-larity.
"You're all gonna die...only question is when. This is as good a place to take your first step to heaven as any. It's ours. It ain't much, but it's ours. Only question is how you check out. Now, you want it on your feet, or on your knees beggin'? I ain't much for beggin'. Nobody ever gave me nothin'. So I say, fvck it, let's fight."

Aww - her voice is OK and she's kinda cute but that song was pure pablum - I :30 skipped thru most of it out of boredom - hoping someone would "take her away".

I thought that was the way ND performed all the time? I don't recall ever hearing him "sing" anything.
And you are correct that Ryan definitely avoided the term "bottom two" last night. At the same time, one would think if they were trying to create such a drama, that one of the Davids would have been standing next to Brooke for the finale.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
Not saying "Bottom two" does not necessarily denote AVOIDING.

No, but the phrase "bottom two" or "bottom three" is a standard feature of the Idol results show every week. When they noticably avoid such phrasing, there has to be a reason.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
I'm surprised no one - here or on the show - brought up another mistake Paula made on performance night. After Syesha's second song, Paula clearly called her Brooke. My wife and I were watching it on dvr last night so we confirmed that we both did indeed hear her correctly.

My wife went nuts over that. The phrase, "arrogant douchebag" came up a few times.

He sings when he's in the studio.

I didn't watch the results show yet, and only fast-forwarded through the dreck to see the performances on Tuesday, but there was something mentioned in one of the papers I saw today regarding a comment made by Ryan (jokingly) that as a judge Paula was "safe". There was speculation as to what this could do to the "credibility" (their choice of words, not mine) of the show if the viewers were aware that the judges see the rehearsal performances/take notes/etc. before live broadcast, thus making it seem more "scripted" than "reality".
I know, I know...but some people DO believe that I am sure!
